Le Monde
''Le Monde'' (; ) is a French daily afternoon newspaper. It is the main publication of Le Monde Group and reported an average circulation of 323,039 copies per issue in 2009, about 40,000 of which were sold abroad. It has had its own website since 19 December 1995, and is often the only French newspaper easily obtainable in non-French-speaking countries. It is considered one of the French newspapers of record, along with '' Libération'', and ''Le Figaro''. Thomas Philippon
Thomas Philippon (born May 1974) is a French economist and professor of finance at the New York University Stern School of Business. Career Philippon earned a Master of Arts, MA in Physics in 1997 from École Polytechnique, a Master in Economics in 1998 from the Paris School of Economics, and a PhD in Economics in 2003 from MIT. In 2003 he was hired as an Assistant Professor of Finance at Stern, and he has been a Professor of Finance since 2014. In addition to his professorship at NYU, Philippon has held visiting positions at Columbia University, Chicago University, Yale University, and Princeton University. The Gossen Prize is an annual award given by the Verein für Socialpolitik to German-speaking economists under the age of 45 whose work gained international recognition. The jury—the extended committee of the Verein für Socialpolitik—especially considers the scientist's number of publications in prestigious English-speaking journals and his mentions on the Social Sciences Citation Index. John Bates Clark Medal
The John Bates Clark Medal is awarded by the American Economic Association to "that American economist under the age of forty who is adjudged to have made a significant contribution to economic thought and knowledge." The award is named after the American economist John Bates Clark (1847–1938). According to ''The Chronicle of Higher Education'', it "is widely regarded as one of the field's most prestigious awards... second only to the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences." Many of the recipients went on to receive the Nobel Prizes in their later careers, including the inaugural recipient Paul Samuelson. The award was made biennially until 2007, but from 2009 is now awarded every year because of the growth of the field. Although the Clark medal is billed as a prize for American economists, it is sufficient that the candidates work in the US at the time of the award; US nationality is not necessary to be considered. Gabriel Zucman (born 30 October 1986) is a French economist who is currently an associate professor of public policy and economics at the University of California, Berkeley‘s Goldman School of Public Policy. The author of '' The Hidden Wealth of Nations: The Scourge of Tax Havens'' (2015), Zucman is known for his research on tax havens and corporate tax havens. Zucman's research has found that the leading corporate tax havens are all OECD–compliant, and that tax disputes between high–tax locations and havens are very rare. His papers are some of the most cited papers on research into tax havens. Emmanuel Farhi (8 September 1978 – 23 July 2020) was a French economist and professor of economics at Harvard University. His research focused on macroeconomics, taxation and finance.
