Prix Texanita
The Prix Texanita is a Group 3 flat horse race in France open to three-year-old thoroughbreds. The race is run at Chantilly over 1,200 metres in May. The race was previously run over a distance of 1,100 metres (about 5½ furlongs) at Maisons-Laffitte until the racecourse was closed in October 2019. History The event is named after Texanita, a successful French-trained sprinter in the 1960s. It was established in 2013, and initially held Listed status. The Prix Texanita was promoted to Group 3 level in 2015. The promotion was part of a restructured programme for three-year-old sprinters in Europe. Maisons-Laffitte Racecourse
The Hippodrome de Maisons-Laffitte at 1 avenue de la Pelouse in the northwestern Parisian suburb of Maisons-Laffitte in France was a grass, turf horse racing facility and Hippodrome, track for Thoroughbred flat racing. Opened in 1878 by Joseph Oller, inventor of the Parimutuel betting, pari-mutuel machine, it sits on 92 hectares that belonged to the wealthy banker Jacques Laffitte. The nearby Château de Maisons, Château de Maisons-Laffitte is home to The Museum of the Racehorse. In November 2018 France Galop announced that the racecourse would close at the end of 2019 due to financial pressures on the organisation. The final meeting was held on 29th October 2019. Freddy Head
Freddy Head (born 19 June 1947, in Neuilly, France) is a retired champion jockey in Thoroughbred horse racing and currently a horse trainer. Known also as "Freddie", his grandfather was a jockey as was his father Alec Head who also became a successful trainer and owner of Haras du Quesnay near Deauville. Alec Head's horses won The Derby and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. In the 1976 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Freddie Head rode to victory on a horse trained by his father and in 1979 took another win on a horse trained by his highly successful sister, Christiane "Criquette" Head. Pierre-Charles Boudot (born 21 December 1992) is a French flat racing jockey. He was French flat racing Champion Jockey in 2015, 2016 and 2020. Boudot rode Waldgeist to win Europe's biggest race the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 2019. In May 2021 Boudot has been suspended for three months by the France Galop as he is under investigation over rape allegation. Wooded (horse)
Wooded (foaled 27 March 2017) is an Irish-bred, French-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He showed promising form as a juvenile in 2019 when he won one minor race and was placed in both the Prix La Rochette and the Prix Thomas Bryon. He won the Prix Texanita on this three-year-old debut but was beaten in his next three starts before recording his biggest win on his final start when he took the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye. He was retired from racing at the end of the year. Background Wooded is a bay colt with a white star and three white socks bred in Ireland by the Swiss-based breeding company Gestüt Zur Kuste. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum ( ar, حمدان بن راشد أل مكتوم, '; 25 December 1945 – 24 March 2021) was an Emirati politician, the deputy ruler of Dubai and the minister of finance and industry of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Jarnet was first apprenticed to Patrick Rago at Maisons-Laffitte and then to Yann Porzier at Chantilly, Oise.
