''Prism'' is the debut album by Canadian rock band Prism, released in May 1977 on the Canadian record label GRT. It was produced primarily by Bruce Fairbairn, and the majority of songs were written by Jim Vallance (who also served as co-producer on three tracks). Prism (band)
Prism (styled as PRiSM) is a Canadian rock band formed in Vancouver in 1977. They were originally active from 1977 to 1984 and have been active again from 1987 to present. Their classic line-up consisted of lead singer Ron Tabak, guitarist Lindsay Mitchell, keyboardist John Hall, bassist Allen Harlow and drummer Rocket Norton. The band's sound is a mix of album-oriented rock ( AOR) and pop rock and they have released a total of eight studio albums, three compilation albums and one live album. Prism's success has been primarily in Canada where they won the Canadian music industry Juno Award for 'Group of the Year' in 1981, although they also reached the US top 40 charts with 1981's " Don't Let Him Know". Ian Lloyd (musician)
Lloyd Buonconsiglio, known professionally as Ian Lloyd, is an American rock singer and songwriter best known as the lead singer of the band Stories. The band's single " Brother Louie" rose to No. 1 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in August 1973. In 1971, Michael Brown and Ian Lloyd formed Stories. They released two albums (''Stories'' and ''About Us'') with a handful of Billboard Top 100 charting singles. Brown left before the band recorded their third (and final) album, ''Traveling Underground'', which was released under the name, Ian Lloyd and Stories, and included the Billboard #50 hit "Mammy Blue". April Wine is a Canadian rock band formed in 1969 and based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Led by singer-guitarist-songwriter Myles Goodwin since its inception, April Wine's first success came with its second album, '' On Record'' (1972), which reached the top 40 in Canada and yielded two hit singles: "Bad Side of the Moon", a top 20 hit in Canada; and "You Could Have Been a Lady", a number 2 song in Canada. Thomas William Keenlyside (born 1950) is a Canadian saxophonist and flautist from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Biography Born and raised in Vancouver, Keenlyside grew up hearing many genres of music on the radio that his parents left turned on much of the time. When he was twelve years old, he started playing trumpet. A year later while he was walking to school, he stopped by a friend's house and heard "Strange Meadowlark" by the Dave Brubeck Quartet coming from the house. He was overwhelmed when he heard Paul Desmond's solo, and he resolved to pursue a career in music. A couple years later he became interested in the flute and took lessons. Lindsay Christopher Mitchell (born 28 May 1949) is an English-born Canadian musician and songwriter who achieved success as the guitarist and founder of the Canadian rock band Prism. Early life Born on May 28, 1949 in North London, England, Mitchell emigrated to Alberta, Canada with his family in 1957, finally settling in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1962. Tom Lavin is a Chicago-born musician and record producer and founding member of the Juno Award winning (1981) Canadian group, Powder Blues. Leader, Tom Lavin has written many of the band’s best-known songs including ‘Doin’ It Right’ a SOCAN Classics Winner and ‘Boppin With the Blues’. Tom Lavin has won BCMIA awards for ‘Guitarist, Singer, Songwriter and Producer of the Year’, a Juno award for ‘Best New Band’ and the American W.C. Handy Blues Music Award. Music Canada (formerly Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA)) is a non-profit trade organization that was founded 9 April 1963 to represent the interests of companies that record, manufacture, produce, and distribute music in Canada.
