Princeton Tigers Men's Soccer
The Princeton Tigers men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of Princeton University. The team is a member of the Ivy League of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The team is one of the oldest active soccer clubs in the United States, playing their first recorded match in 1869. Jim Barlow
Jim Barlow is a soccer coach who has been the head coach of the Princeton Tigers men's soccer team since 1996. At Princeton, Barlow is the winningest men's soccer coach in school history and has led the team to five Ivy League titles and five NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament berths. Raised in Hightstown, New Jersey, Barlow was a soccer star at Hightstown High School, where he was named as Player of the Year by the New Jersey Soccer Coaches Association in 1986 and chosen as part of the Parade All-America soccer team in 1987. He played soccer at Princeton, graduating in 1991 with a degree in history. At Princeton, he was named as Ivy League Player of the Year in 1990, the first Tigers athlete to win the Ivy League's top soccer honor. Barlow was chosen as the head coach of the Princeton men's soccer team in 1996, at the age of 26, to succeed Bob Bradley, who left to join the coaching staff of D.C. United. Roberts Stadium (soccer Stadium)
Roberts Stadium was a 2,356 seat soccer-specific stadium located on the campus of Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. It was the home to the Princeton Tigers men's and women's soccer teams. The stadium was named in honor of Thomas S. Roberts '85, a former Princeton goal keeper. The stadium's natural grass game field, Myslik Field, was named in memory of Robert H. Myslik '90, a soccer alumnus and assistant coach who died in 2003. The team's artificial turf practice field, Plummer Field, was adjacent to the stadium. The stadium was torn down in 2019 to make way for Perelman College, the future seventh residential college at Princeton University. The Ivy League is an American collegiate athletic conference comprising eight private research universities in the Northeastern United States. The term ''Ivy League'' is typically used beyond the sports context to refer to the eight schools as a group of elite colleges with connotations of academic excellence, selectivity in admissions, and social elitism. Bob Bradley
Robert Frank Bradley (born March 3, 1958) is an American soccer coach who is the head coach and sporting director of Toronto FC. A native of New Jersey and graduate of Princeton University, Bradley coached in the American college game and Major League Soccer (MLS), managing the Chicago Fire, MetroStars, and Chivas USA over nine seasons. In 2006, he was appointed manager of the United States men's team, winning the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2007 and finishing runner-up in 2009 and 2011 as well as in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. His team also reached the last 16 of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He then managed Egypt. He then became the first American to manage a team in a European first division with Stabæk of Norway in 2014. Antoine Laurent Hoppenot (born 23 November 1990) is a French footballer who currently plays for Hartford Athletic in the USL Championship. Career College and amateur Hoppenot played college soccer at Princeton University between 2008 and 2011. Jesse Marsch
Jesse Alan Marsch (born November 8, 1973) is an American professional soccer coach and former player who is the current head coach of club Leeds United. Marsch played 14 seasons as a midfielder in Major League Soccer (MLS) with D.C. United, Chicago Fire, and Chivas USA, winning three league titles and four U.S. Open Cup titles, as well as earning two caps for the United States national team. In 2010, Marsch retired from his playing career and became a coach, first serving as an assistant with the U.S. national team under Bob Bradley that reached the last 16 of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The Princeton Tigers are the athletic teams of Princeton University. The school sponsors 35 varsity teams in 20 sports.
