Primo Nebiolo
Primo Nebiolo (14 July 1923 – 7 November 1999) was an Italian sports official, best known as president of the worldwide athletics federation IAAF. Primo Nebiolo was the ideator of the IAAF Continental Cup. Biography As an active athlete in his younger days, Nebiolo was a long jumper. He later studied law and political science and became a businessman in construction. Nebiolo became president of the International University Sports Federation, which among other things arranges the Universiade, in 1961. From 1969 to 1989 he was the president of the Italian Athletics Federation. He became a member of the IAAF council in 1972, president of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations in 1983 and a member of the International Olympic Committee in 1992. He played a role in winning the 2006 Winter Olympics bid for his home city Turin. Giovanni Evangelisti
Giovanni Evangelisti (born 11 September 1961 in Rimini) is a retired long jumper from Italy. His greatest achievements were the Olympic bronze medal in 1984 and three World Indoor bronze medals. He finished fourth at the 1988 Olympics. Biography Despite his records, he is best remembered for the scandal that occurred during the 1987 World Championships. In the long jump final, home officials gave a forged measurement for one of Evangelisti's jumps - recording it as 8.37m instead of 7.85m - which resulted in him winning the bronze medal. Though initially successful, the scam was eventually exposed by Sandro Donati and others, resulting in Evangelisti relinquishing his medal. Larry Myricks of the United States was instated as the rightful bronze medalist nine months later. He won 11 medals (nine of them bronze), at the International athletics competitions. Memorial Primo Nebiolo
The Memorial Primo Nebiolo is an annual track and field meeting held at the Stadio Primo Nebiolo in Turin, Italy in early June. History The history of the Turin competition dates back to 1963, when the Torino Meeting was first held. This event hosted top level athletes, such as Sebastian Coe and Saïd Aouita, for two decades until its cancellation in 1983. A re-boot occurred in 1995 with the launch of the Meeting Internazionale di Atletica Leggera Città di Torino and it quickly became part of the IAAF Grand Prix circuit. Following the death of the highly influential Italian sports administrator Primo Nebiolo (a former IAAF President who was born in the city), the competition was renamed in his honour in 2000 as the Memorial Primo Nebiolo. Livio Berruti (born 19 May 1939) is an Italian former athletics (sport), athlete who was the winner of the 200-meter dash in the 1960 Summer Olympics. He won five medals, at individual level, and three medals with the Italy national relays team at the international athletics championships, national relay team at the International athletics championships and games, International athletics competitions. Biography Berruti was born in Turin where he attended Liceo classico Cavour, Liceo Classico "Cavour". After high school, while pursuing a degree in chemistry, he competed in the 1960 Rome Olympics. In the semi-finals of the 200 m, spurred by the Home advantage, home crowd, he unexpectedly ran in 20.5 seconds, equalling the then world record for that distance.
