Primetime Emmy Award For Outstanding Comedy Series
The Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series is an annual award given to the best television comedy series of the year. From 1960 to 1964, this category was combined with the Comedy Specials (one time programs) category so that both type of programs competed for the same award during those years. The award goes to the producers of the series. Milestones ''The Flintstones'' and ''Family Guy'' are the only animated sitcoms to be nominated for the award. As of 2020, ''Fleabag'' (United Kingdom) and ''Schitt's Creek'' (Canada) are the only shows from outside the United States to win this award. The Big Three networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) have dominated the category. Only six other networks have won the award: HBO (once with ''Sex and the City'' and three times with ''Veep'') four times, Fox (with '' Ally McBeal'' and ''Arrested Development'') and Apple TV+ (with ''Ted Lasso'') twice, and Amazon Prime Video (with ''The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel''), the BBC (with ''Fleabag''; alth ...

You Bet Your Life
''You Bet Your Life'' is an American comedy quiz series that has aired on both radio and television. The original and best-known version was hosted by Groucho Marx of the Marx Brothers, with announcer and assistant George Fenneman. The show debuted on ABC Radio on October 27, 1947, moved to CBS Radio debuting October 5, 1949, and went to NBC-TV and NBC Radio on October 4, 1950. Because of its simple format, it was possible to broadcast the show on both radio and television but not simultaneously. Many of the laughs on the television show were evoked by Groucho's facial reactions and other visual gimmicks; the two versions were slightly different. The last episode in a radio format aired on June 10, 1960. The series continued on television for another year, recording a season on September 22, 1960 with a new title, ''The Groucho Show''. Gameplay on each episode of ''You Bet Your Life'' was generally secondary to Groucho's comedic interplay with contestants and often with Fennema ...

It was aired by CBS five nights a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) from 7:55 to 8:00 P.M. Eastern time and consisted solely of Shriner's folksy monologues, which had already earned him comparisons to Will Rogers. This program was seen only from November 1949 until February 1950. ''Herb Shriner Time'' was a half-hour format aired by ABC on Thursday nights at 9 PM Eastern from October 1951 to April 1952.
