Primera B Metropolitana
Primera B Metropolitana is one of two professional leagues that form the third level of the Argentine football league system. The division is made up of 17 clubs mainly from the city of Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area, Greater Buenos Aires. Originally created as the second division, it became the third level after a restructuring of the system in 1985 that ended with the creation of Primera B Nacional, set as the second division since then. The other league at level three is the Torneo Federal A, where teams from regional leagues take part. Format Primera B Metropolitana is currently organized so, during the course of a season, each club plays the others twice (a double round robin system), once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents. The team that gets the most points at the end of the season is recognized as the Primera B champion and is automatically promoted to Primera B Nacional. Promotion And Relegation
In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. In a system of promotion and relegation, the best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. In some leagues, playoffs or qualifying rounds are also used to determine rankings. This process can continue through several levels of divisions, with teams being exchanged between adjacent divisions. Quilmes
Quilmes () is a city on the coast of the Río de la Plata, Rio de la Plata, in the , on the south east of the Greater Buenos Aires. The city was founded in 1666 and it is the seat of the Quilmes Partido, eponymous county. With a population of 230,810, it is located south of the capital of Argentina, the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. History The ''Quilmes (tribe), Quilmes'' were a native tribe who lived in the surroundings of San Miguel de Tucumán, Tucumán. In the 17th century, after repeated attempts by the Spanish invaders to control their lands, the Quilmes were defeated and were forced to settle in a restricted colony (''reducción'') near Buenos Aires, where the authorities could control them. Merlo is the head town of the eponymous partido of Merlo and seat of the municipal government, located in the Greater Buenos Aires urban area of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The city was founded by Francisco de Merlo in 1755 and rebuilt by Juan Dillon in 1859. Club Atlético Argentino (mostly known as Argentino de Merlo) is an Argentine football club from Merlo, Buenos Aires. The squad currently plays in Primera D Metropolitana, the regionalised five division of the Argentine football league system. History The club was founded in 1906 by a group of young workers from Estación Merlo (Merlo Station) of the Buenos Aires Western Railway. Originally conceived as a football and rugby union team, the club had its own facilities where not only football but tennis and cricket were played. The Asociación Amateurs de Football (AAmF) was a dissident football association of Argentina that organised its own championships from 1919 to 1926. The Argentine Football Association did not recognise those championships until both associations were merged in 1926. Currently all the championships organised by the AAmF are considered official by the AFA. History On 16 March 1919, the Primera División season started with 19 teams taking part.
