'' Pride of Texas '' is the first studio album by American metal band Texas Hippie Coalition. It was released on February 12, 2008. Production The album was produced by David Prater, and was mastered by David Zycheck at Largemouth Recording Studio. Composition "Clenched Fist", the second song on the album, is dedicated to guitarist Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott, who was a significant influence on the band. Reception Mark Allen of Hardrock Haven called ''Pride of Texas'' the album that added Texas Hippie Coalition to the list of southern metal artists. Cuttingedgerocks.com called the work an "attack of blasting guitar, thumping drums and mind-wearing bass coupled with muscle driven intoxicated lyrics from a gargantuan with fitting gumpture and vocals". Texas Hippie Coalition (sometimes stylized THC) is an American heavy metal band from Denison, Texas. History The band was formed in Denison, Texas by Big Dad Ritch, along with his friend John Exall and other friends. Several lineup changes occurred before, ''Rollin'', with producer Dave Prater. ''Rollin'' arrived on July 6, 2010, which was their first national release. In early 2012 the group began working with producer Bob Marlette. Their first single " Turn It Up" was released in June of that same year. ''Peacemaker'' was released on August 14, 2012, and was ranked 20 on '' Billboard'' Hard Rock Albums. In February 2014, it was announced that '' Ride On'', the fourth studio album from the quartet is expected to be released October 7, 2014. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. ''Rollin is the second studio album by American metal band Texas Hippie Coalition. It was released on July 6, 2010 and reached number 29 on the US Heatseekers Albums chart. Production The album, which was their first with Carved Records, contains Version 2 of "Pissed Off and Mad About it" (the first single from the band) produced by David Prater. Touring The band toured the United States and Europe in mid-2010 with a stop at Bospop Festival in the Netherlands. Dimebag Darrell
Darrell Lance Abbott (August 20, 1966 – December 8, 2004), best known by his stage name Dimebag Darrell, was an American musician. He was the guitarist of the heavy metal bands Pantera and Damageplan, both of which he co-founded alongside his brother Vinnie Paul. He is often regarded as one of the greatest heavy metal guitarists of all time. A son of country music producer Jerry Abbott, Abbott began playing guitar at age 12, and Pantera released its debut album, ''Metal Magic'' (1983), when he was 16. Originally a glam metal musician, Abbott went by the stage name Diamond Darrell at the time. Two further albums in the glam metal style followed in 1984 and 1985, before original vocalist Terry Glaze was replaced by Phil Anselmo in 1986 and ''Power Metal'' (1988) was released. Southern rock is a subgenre of rock music and a genre of Americana. Randy Cooper
Randy "The Arsonist" Cooper (born ) is the former guitarist for American rock band Emperors and Elephants as well as American red dirt metal band Texas Hippie Coalition. Cooper also acted as a session guitarist on American southern rock band Shotgun Rebellion's debut album'' Train of Pain ''in addition to performing on a limited number of dates with the band. History Cooper moved to Denison, Texas when he was 16 years of age. Having met Pantera shortly thereafter, and opening for them as part of Texas Hippie Coalition, he became attracted to Dean Guitars, and played the same Vintage 82 DEAN from 1989 until at least 2009. In 1991, an automobile accident in Oklahoma City turned the guitarist into a quadriplegic, confining him to a wheelchair and forcing him to regain his stride. After regaining motion in his right arm and both legs, Cooper spent additional time in rehab, recovering only one finger on his left hand. History Big Dad Ritch came to prominence in 2004 when he co-founded the metal band Texas Hippie Coalition with John Exall.
