The Politics of Abruzzo (Abruzzo, Italy) takes place in a framework of a Presidential system, presidential representative democracy, whereby the President of Regional Government is the head of government, and of a pluriform multi-party system. Giovanni Pace
Giovanni Pace (18 November 1933 – 19 May 2018) was an Italian accountant and politician. Pace was born and raised in the city of Chieti. He and studied business and economics together at university. Pace worked as an accountant and helped establish a branch of the Italian Social Movement in Abruzzo. From 1960 to 1975, Pace served on the Chieti municipal council as a member of the MSI. Between 1990 and 1993, Pace was city auditor. He won election to the Chamber of Deputies in 1994 but ran for reelection in 1996 under the National Alliance banner. The Union of Democrats for Europe ( it, Unione Democratici per l'Europa, UDEUR), also known as UDEUR Populars (''Popolari UDEUR''), was a minor centrist, Christian-democratic political party in Italy. Ottaviano Del Turco (born 7 November 1944) is an Italian politician. Early life Del Turco was born in Collelongo on 7 November 1944. Career After a career in trade unionism in the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL), Del Turco rose to the top of Bettino Craxi's Italian Socialist Party (PSI) before it was swept away in the Tangentopoli scandals of 1992–94. Del Turco was the president of the Antimafia Commission from December 1996 to May 2000. He was Minister of Finance in the cabinet led by the then prime minister Giuliano Amato from 2000 to 2001. He was elected to the European Parliament in 2004 on the Italian Democratic Socialists (SDI) ticket and sat with the Party of European Socialists group. The United Christian Democrats ( it, Cristiani Democratici Uniti, CDU) was a minor Christian democratic political party in Italy. The CDU was a member of the European People's Party from 1995 until 2002. History The party was started in 1995 by splinters of the Italian People's Party (PPI) who wanted to join forces with Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia (FI). The split was led by Rocco Buttiglione (outgoing secretary of the PPI), Roberto Formigoni and Gianfranco Rotondi.
