Premio Presidente Della Repubblica (horse Race)
The Premio Presidente della Repubblica is a Group 2 flat horse race in Italy open to thoroughbreds aged four years or older. It is run over a distance of 1,800 metres (about 1⅛ miles) at Capannelle in May. History The event was established in 1879, and it was originally called the Premio Omnium. It was initially open to horses aged three or older and contested over 3,500 metres. The first running was won by Macedonie. It was cut to 2,400 metres in 1882. The race continued as the Premio Omnium until 1955. It was renamed the Premio Presidente della Repubblica in 1956. This was to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Italy becoming a republic. The Premio Presidente della Repubblica was run over 2,200 metres in 1966. It was extended to 2,300 metres in 1967 and reduced to 2,000 metre in 1968. Capannelle Racecourse
Capannelle Racecourse ( it, Ippodromo delle Capannelle) is a horse racing venue in Rome, Italy. The course was constructed in 1881, and it was rebuilt in 1926 to a design by Paolo Vietti-Violi. It was recently the venue of two Group 1 flat races – the Premio Lydia Tesio (downgraded to Group 2 in 2019) and the Premio Roma (downgraded to Group 2 in 2017). The track also stages the most valuable flat race in Italy, the Derby Italiano, which was downgraded to Group 2 status in 2009. Group 2 races include the Premio Ribot and the Premio Presidente della Repubblica. John Harry Martin Gosden (born 30 March 1951) is a British racehorse trainer. He has trained over 3,000 winners worldwide, including winners of the Breeders' Cup Classic, the Derby, the Arc, the King George, the Eclipse, and over 600 winners in the United States. Gosden has trained the winners of over 100 Group 1 races in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He is generally considered one of the finest and most successful racehorse trainers of his generation. Muhtarram
Muhtarram is an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred race horse. He won the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Ascot twice, in addition to the Irish Champion Stakes and the Premio Presidente della Repubblica in Italy. Background Muhtarram was a bay horse bred in the United States by Cotswold Farm 1985 Ltd. He was sired by the dual Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Alleged. He was trained throughout his racing career by John Gosden and was ridden in all but one of his races by Willie Carson. Fahd bin Salman Al Saud ( ar, فهد بن سلمان آل سعود, Fahd bin Salman Āl Su‘ūd; 1955 – 25 July 2001) was a Saudi royal, businessman, and thoroughbred racer. Early life and education Prince Fahd was born in Riyadh in 1955. He was the eldest son of Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz (later king of Saudi Arabia). Paul F. I. Cole (born 11 September 1941) is a British racehorse trainer. Since 1987 he has been based at Whatcombe Estate in Berkshire, the former stables of Dick Dawson and Arthur Budgett. He was British flat racing Champion Trainer in 1991, the year in which he trained Generous to win the Epsom Derby. Clive Brittain (born 15 December 1934) is a retired British race-horse trainer. He started in racing as an apprentice in 1949, and became a licensed trainer from 1972 after working for Noel Murless. Sikeston (horse)
Sikeston (foaled 9 April 1986 – after 2003) was an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse who had his greatest success in Italy. In five years on the track, he ran 34 times and won 11 races, seven of them at Group 1 level, three at Group 2 and one at Group 3 and was also placed in several major races. He produced most of his best performances on soft or heavy going. He won the Gran Criterium as a two-year-old in 1988 and the Premio Parioli in the following spring. As a four-year-old in 1990 he won the Premio Natale di Roma, Premio Ribot and Premio Vittorio di Capua. John Dunlop (racehorse Trainer)
John Leeper Dunlop (10 July 1939 – 7 July 2018) was an English race horse trainer based in Arundel, Sussex. He trained the winners of 74 Group One races, including 10 British Classics, with over 3000 winners in total. He was the British flat racing Champion Trainer in 1995. Born in Tetbury, he first took out a training licence in 1966.
