The Premio Mario Incisa della Rocchetta is a Listed flat horse race in Italy open to three-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run at Milan over a distance of 2,000 metres (about 1¼ miles), and it is scheduled to take place each year in June. History The event was originally called the Premio Legnano, and for a period it held Group 2 status. It was formerly open to fillies and mares aged three or older. The Premio Legnano was subtitled the Memorial Mario Incisa della Rocchetta after the prominent racehorse owner's death in 1983. It was downgraded to Group 3 level in the late 1980s. The race was cut from 2,000 to 1,600 metres in 1995. It was extended to 2,400 metres in 1997. It became known as the Premio Mario Incisa in the early 2000s, and during this period it was held in June. The event was shortened to 2,000 metres and restricted to three-year-old fillies in 2005. Thomas Richard Quinn, better known as Richard Quinn (born 2 December 1961) is a Scottish jockey. Life and career After leaving Bannockburn High School in 1977, aged 15, he moved to York to work as a stable lad. This career led to Quinn moving to work for Paul Cole in Lambourn for 17 years (1981–1998). After some years as a freelance jockey, he joined Henry Cecil in Newmarket (2000–2004). Quinn has raced with owners Prince Fahd bin Salman (1990–1991) and John L. Dunlop. Among other victories, Quinn has achieved 26 victories at Goodwood Racecourse. He briefly retired in 2006, only to return to racing early the next year. Quinn now lives in Great Shefford. Richard Hills (born 22 January 1963) is a retired flat racing jockey. He is twin brother to Michael Hills (also a jockey) and their father is former racehorse trainer Barry Hills. The twins' older brother John Hills was also a trainer. Patrick James John Eddery (18 March 1952 – 10 November 2015) was an Irish flat racing jockey and trainer. He rode three winners of the Derby and was Champion Jockey on eleven occasions. He rode the winners of 4,632 British flat races, a figure exceeded only by Sir Gordon Richards. Background Eddery was born in Newbridge, County Kildare, less than 2 miles from the Curragh Racecourse, and his birth was registered in Dublin. He was the fifth child of Jimmy Eddery, a jockey who rode Panaslipper to win the Irish Derby in 1955, and Josephine (the daughter of jockey Jack Moylan). His brother, Paul, also went on to become a jockey.
