Praktan
''Praktan'' (Bengali: প্রাক্তন, lit. ''Former'') is a 2016 Indian Bengali film directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee and starring Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta. It brings back the Prosenjit - Rituparna collaboration 14 years after ''Pratihinsa'' (2002). The theme of the film is based on conflict between contentment and sacrifice of married life. The film opened to a huge reception on 27 May 2016 worldwide. It won the International Film Business Award 2016 for becoming the Highest Grossing Movie of the Year - Bengal alongside films like Kabaali, Sultan, Sairat and Action Hero Biju, at Indywood Film Carnival at Ramoji Film City. The film's music was released by Amara Muzik. Praktan was remade in Bollywood with the title Jalebi. Shiboprosad Mukherjee
Shiboprosad Mukherjee (, Bengali: ; born 20 May 1974) is an Indian film director, writer and actor. He, collaborating with Nandita Roy, debuted with their film ''Icche'', which garnered both critical acclaim as well as commercial success. The director duo is known for making socially relevant films which are also entertaining to the viewers. Nandita Roy
Nandita Roy (born April 3, 1955) is an Indian filmmaker and screenwriter. She made her directorial debut with the film ''Icche'' (2011) along with her co-director Shiboprosad Mukherjee. The two have also directed ''Accident'', ''Muktodhara'', ''Alik Sukh'', ''Ramdhanu'', ''Bela Seshe'', ''Haami'', ''Praktan'' , ''Posto (film), Konntho, Gotro''. She has been a part of several projects and has worked with many renowned directors. Early life Nandita Roy was born on April 3, 1955 in Mumbai. Anupam Roy (born 29 March 1982) is an Indian singer, singer-songwriter, music director, composer, songwriter, guitarist, playback singer from Kolkata, West Bengal. Rituparna Sengupta is an Indian actress and producer who is known for her work in Bengali cinema and Hindi cinema. The National Film Award for Best Lyrics (the Silver Lotus Award) is an honour presented annually at the National Film Awards by the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) to a lyricist who has composed the best song for films produced within the Indian film industry.
