''Prahlada'' is a 1941 Indian Malayalam-language film, directed by K. Subramaniam and produced by Madras United Artist Corporation. The film stars T. K. Balachandran, N. P. Chellappan Nair, Guru Gopinath, Thankamani Gopinath and Kumari Lakshmi. The film's score was composed by Vidwan V. S. Parthasarathy Ayyankar. The movie is the remake of '' Prahalada'', a Tamil film released in 1939. It is the first mythological film in Malayalam. It is the debut Malayalam film of director-producer K. Subramaniam, T. K. Guru Gopinath
Perumanoor Gopinathan Pillai, more popularly known as Guru Gopinath (24 June 1908 – 9 October 1987) was a well known actor-cum-dancer. He is well regarded as the greatest preserver of the dance tradition. He is a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Significance Guru Gopinath was well tempered by traditional discipline, but he expanded the framework of tradition. He was instrumental in introducing and popularising Kathakali, the illustrious dance drama of Kerala, lying in obscurity, to the outer world. He is considered one of the epic personalities of Indian dancing in the 20th century like Uday Shankar. ''Prahalada'' is a 1939 Indian Tamil language film directed by B. N. Rao. It deals with the story of Prahlada and his devotion to Lord Vishnu. It was one of the earliest adaptations this mythologic story after the 1932 Telugu version. The story has subsequently been adapted 20 times in numerous languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali and Assamese with most of them being successful at the box office.
