Bobby Poyner
Robert William Poyner (born December 1, 1992) is a former American professional baseball pitcher. He throws and bats left-handed, and is listed at and . He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for two seasons for the Boston Red Sox. Early years Poyner attended Palm Beach Central High School in Wellington, Florida. He played for the school's baseball team, but suffered a torn labrum in 2011, his senior year. He enrolled at the University of Florida and played college baseball for the Florida Gators from 2012 through 2015. While at Florida, he pursued a degree in finance. In 2013 and 2014, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Professional career The Boston Red Sox selected Poyner in the 14th round, with the 411th overall selection, of the 2015 MLB draft. Syvasky Poyner
Syvasky Lafayette Poyner (April 7, 1956 – March 18, 1993) was an American spree killer who killed four women and a teenage girl during a series of armed robberies in Hampton, Virginia in 1984. Convicted of multiple counts of capital murder and condemned to death, Poyner was executed in 1993. Early life Poyner was born on April 7, 1956, in Newport News, Virginia, living on the East End with his mother, who died in 1980. Poyner's mother was a very religious woman who often kept her son inside their 19th Street apartment. According to her friends, she would often sit outside her apartment, reading the Bible and giving religious advice. Poyner would not meet his father, William E. Johnson, until he was called to testify at his murder trial. From the age of 14, Poyner was in and out of detention centers and jails for stealing. Geography Poyner Township covers an area of and contains two incorporated settlements: Gilbertville, Iowa, Gilbertville and Raymond, Iowa, Raymond.
