Francis Conroy Sullivan
Francis Conroy Sullivan (July 2, 1882 – April 4, 1929) was a Canadian architect. The only Canadian pupil of Frank Lloyd Wright aside from Roger d'Astous, Sullivan worked in the Oak Park studio in 1907 but returned to Ottawa in 1908. Sullivan brought the modernist Prairie School style to Canada, building a number of prominent structures, often in the Prairie Style. Sullivan was born in Kingston, Ontario. He was an architect for the Canadian Department of Public Works from 1908 to 1911, after which he had an independent practice in Ottawa until 1916. In this capacity he frequently designed schools for the Ottawa Catholic School Board. In 1920 he moved to Chicago and became the chief architect for the Chicago Public School Board. Powers Building
Powers Building is a historic office building located in Rochester in Monroe County, New York. It was built in 1869 and is a nine-story, building, laid out around a large open stairwell in the center. It features a triple mansard roof and observation tower which were added after initial construction, between 1873 and 1888, by Daniel Powers to maintain its standing as the tallest building in Rochester. Isaac; grc, Ἰσαάκ, Isaák; ar, إسحٰق/إسحاق, Isḥāq; am, ይስሐቅ is one of the three patriarchs of the Israelites and an important figure in the Abrahamic religions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Powers Home, also known as Davenport Homestead, is a historic home located in the Lansingburgh section of Troy in Rensselaer County, New York. It was built in 1846 and is a temple style Greek Revival residence. It is a "T" shaped residence with a two-story, three bay, frame central block with two flanking wings and one long rear wing. The flanking wings were added in 1883–1884. It features a monumental portico composed of four fluted Ionic order columns. Windswept Acres, or the Powers House, is a historic house on New Hampshire Route 31 in Goshen, New Hampshire. Alvis Powers House
The Missouri Lumber and Mining Company (MLM) was a large timber corporation with headquarters and primary operations in southeast Missouri. The company was formed by Pennsylvania lumbermen who were eager to exploit the untapped timber resources of the Missouri Ozarks to supply lumber, primarily used in construction, to meet the demand of U.S. westward expansion. Its primary operations were centered in Grandin, a company town it built starting . The lumber mill there grew to be the largest in the country at the turn of the century and Grandin's population peaked around 2,500 to 3,000. As the timber resources were exhausted, the company had to abandon Grandin around 1910. It continued timber harvesting in other parts of Missouri for another decade.
