Pott's Grove
Pottstown is a borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Pottstown was laid out in 1752–53 and named Pottsgrove in honor of its founder, John Potts. The old name was abandoned at the time of the incorporation as a borough in 1815. In 1888, the limits of the borough were considerably extended. Pottstown is the center of a productive farming and dairying region. Pottstown is located on the Schuylkill River. It is south of Allentown and northwest of Philadelphia. History Modern-day Pottstown is on land originally deeded to William Penn. Germans, Swedes and English were among the area's first European settlers. After establishment of the first iron forge in 1714, Pottstown's fortunes became tied to the iron industry, and blast furnaces for production of iron and later steel eventually opened in the area. Reading Railroad Pottstown Station
Pottstown, now referred to as the Charles W. Dickinson Transportation Center, is a bus terminal for the Pottstown Area Rapid Transit located in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. The station was built in 1928 as a train station for the Reading Railroad and was active long enough to be served by SEPTA diesel service trains until 1981. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 12, 1984, as the Reading Railroad Pottstown Station, and is located in the Old Pottstown Historic District, close to the Schuylkill River Trail. The station was designed in the Classical Revival style by the railroad's engineering staff rather than by an outside architect. Stations built in the nineteenth century by the Reading Railroad had usually been designed by outside architects, including Frank Furness. Pottsgrove Manor, also known as the John Potts House, is a historic home located at Pottstown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1752 by John Potts, and is a large two-story, rectangular, sandstone and fieldstone building in the Georgian style. It has a five-bay front facade, gable roof, and a center hall plan. The service wing was added 1790–1805, and the rebuilt east wing was built 1941–1952 during a restoration. It is open to the public as an 18th-century historic house museum owned by Montgomery County. Mount Carbon, Pennsylvania
Mount Carbon is a borough in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States, two miles south of Pottsville. It was formed from North Manheim Township in 1864. The population was 88 in the 2020 census. The borough is the smallest municipality in Schuylkill County. The old Mount Carbon Brewery The borough was home for many years to the Mount Carbon Brewery, which closed in the late 1970s. D.G. Yuengling & Son bought the rights to use the Mount Carbon (Bavarian) name and label when Mount Carbon Brewery went out of business in 1977.
