The Olympic Committee of Portugal ( pt, Comité Olímpico de Portugal ; acronym: COP) is a non-profit organisation of public utility, which serves as the National Olympic Committee (NOC) for Portugal. It was founded on October 26, 1909, to ensure a timely, methodical and state-sponsored participation at the Games of the V Olympiad, in Stockholm. Thus, it was the 13th nation to join the Olympic Movement. As a NOC, its responsibilities include the setup and management of a delegation for the Olympic Games, and fundraising to support Olympic-related sports development programmes, by cooperation with public and private entities. Fernando Ismael Fernandes Pimenta (, born 13 August 1989) is a Portuguese sprint canoeist who has won multiple medals at the Olympic Games, World and European championships. At club level, he represents Benfica. Career Pimenta has competed since the late 2000s. His first major result came at the 2010 World Championships in Poznań, Poland, when he won the K-2 500 metres silver medal together with João Ribeiro. One year later, he contributed to the Portuguese K-4 1000 metres gold medal at the European Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, and claimed a bronze in the K-1 1000 metres. Triathlon At The 2015 European Games
The triathlon competitions at the 2015 European Games, in Baku, were held on 13 and 14 June 2015. A total of 105 athletes, 57 men and 48 women, competed. Qualification A maximum of 12 NOCs may qualify three athletes per event. Other NOCs may have a maximum of two quota places per event. Three quota places will be allocated to the first 12 nations to have three athletes eligible through the qualification process. Olympic qualification Triathlon is one of the events where performance in the 2015 Games impact on Olympic Qualification. In the case of triathlon, the winner of each event will secure a quota place for their NOC for the 2016 Summer Olympics. João Pedro Silva (triathlete)
João Pedro Lopes da Silva (born 15 May 1989) is a Portuguese professional triathlete. He was European U-23 Champion in 2008, 2010 and 2011, National Junior Champion in 2006 and 2007 and the National U-23 Champion in 2008. At the 2012 Summer Olympics Silva placed 9th thus becoming the most decorated male triathlete in Portuguese history. On 23 January 2013, Silva joined S.L. Benfica's triathlon team. He won the silver medal at the 2015 European Games in Baku. Career Silva was born in Benedita, Alcobaça, Portugal. At the age of seventeen Silva won his first medals at Junior World Championships and in the same year he started to take part in and to achieve top ten positions at Elite competitions. The 2015 European Judo Championships were organised by the European Judo Union. Initially it was planned that championships will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from 9 to 12 April 2015. On 21 February 2015, it was announced that competition would be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, during the 2015 European Games. The individual contests took place on 25–27 June 2015. The Organizing Committee announced on 4 April 2014 that visually impaired judo will be included as a medal event. This will make the European Games the first continental games to "fully integrate" a Para-sport discipline into its sports programme. Taekwondo At The 2015 European Games
Taekwondo competitions at the 2015 European Games in Baku were held between 16 and 19 June 2015 at the Crystal Hall complex in Baku. The competition consisted of four weight events in each gender; a total of 8 medal events. Qualification Qualification will be based on the World Taekwondo Federation world ranking list on 31 March 2015, with 112 places being awarded through that system, 14 in each event. In addition, 8 'Universality' places, 1 per event, will be allocated in the individual competition to ensure a spread of nations can compete, and hosts Azerbaijan will also be entitled to one fighter per event.
