The Lewis and Clark Railway is a county-owned railroad located in Clark County, Washington. The line is long, beginning at the BNSF interchange at Rye Junction in Vancouver, Washington and stretching northeast, passing through Brush Prairie and Battle Ground to the line's northern end past Yacolt. Northern Pacific Railway
The Northern Pacific Railway was a transcontinental railroad that operated across the northern tier of the western United States, from Minnesota to the Pacific Northwest. It was approved by Congress in 1864 and given nearly of land grants, which it used to raise money in Europe for construction. Construction began in 1870 and the main line opened all the way from the Great Lakes to the Pacific when former President Ulysses S. Grant drove in the final "golden spike" in western Montana on September 8, 1883. The railroad had about of track and served a large area, including extensive trackage in the states of Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin. The Columbia Basin Railroad (CBRR) is a common freight carrier that operates between Moses Lake and Connell in the state of Washington, USA. Route The CBRR connects the Washington communities of Moses Lake, Wheeler, Schrag, Warden, Othello and Connell. History The Columbia Basin Railroad was established in 1986 as part of the Washington Central Railroad Company, which bought of railway in Central Washington from Burlington Northern. Chelatchie Prairie Railroad
The Chelatchie Prairie Railroad is a heritage railroad in Yacolt, Washington. Formerly a Northern Pacific branchline and operated by the Longview, Portland and Northern Railway for many years, in the 1980s and 1990s the line went through a number of successive operators. Today the railroad is owned by Clark County, Washington, and the trackage from Vancouver Junction to Heisson is operated by the Portland Vancouver Junction Railway for freight traffic. No freight traffic exists north of Battle Ground at this time. The excursions travel through the historic logging country of north Clark County, Washington, from the town of Yacolt to Lucia Falls and returning, stopping for a half-hour at Moulton Falls Park. Longview, Portland And Northern Railway
The Longview, Portland and Northern Railway is a historic railroad operation in the U.S. states of Oregon and Washington. It was founded by timber baron Robert A. Long, the founder of Longview, Washington. The company was incorporated in 1922. Beginning in 1954, the "LP&N" operated a three-mile-long (4.8 km) short-line railroad on the Oregon Coast that connected the International Paper plant to the Southern Pacific interchange just outside Gardiner, Oregon. The paper plant shut down in 1999 and was razed. All that remains of the plant is the railroad tracks and shop buildings. In 2006, Robert Larson, president of the Oregon, Pacific and Eastern Railway (OP&E), filed with the State of Oregon for the LP&N. Yacolt
Yacolt is a town in Clark County, Washington, United States. The 2019 population is estimated to be 1,796. It is located about 31 miles northeast of Vancouver which is part of the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area. It is also the only town in Clark County, Washington. History Yacolt is derived from the Klickitat word "Yahkohtl," meaning "haunted place" or "place of (evil) spirits." Another name it was known by was "the valley of lost children". In September 1902 the town, which consisted of only 15 buildings at the time, was nearly destroyed by the Yacolt Burn, the largest fire in state history.
