Portfolio Committee On Agriculture, Land Reform And Rural Development
The Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development is a portfolio committee of the South African National Assembly in the Parliament of South Africa. The committee is responsible for oversight of the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) and associated entities, including the Agricultural Research Council, the National Agricultural Marketing Council, the Perishable Products Export Control Board, the Onderstepoort Biological Products Limited, the Ingonyama Trust Board, the Registration of deeds trading account, the Agricultural landholdings account and the Office of the valuer-general. South African National Assembly
The National Assembly is the directly elected house of the Parliament of South Africa, located in Cape Town, Western Cape. It consists of four hundred members who are elected every five years using a party-list proportional representation system where half of the members are elected proportionally from nine provincial lists and the remaining half from national lists so as to restore proportionality. The National Assembly is presided over by a Speaker, assisted by a Deputy Speaker. The current Speaker is Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula who previously served as the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans. She was elected on 19 August 2021. Thandeka Moloko Mbabama (born 12 September 1956) is a South African politician of the Democratic Alliance who has been serving as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development since June 2019. She has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since November 2016. From January 2017 to June 2019, she was the Shadow Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform. Wayne Maxim Thring (born 1 February 1963) is a South African teacher and politician who serves as the deputy president of the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP). He was sworn in as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa in May 2019. Thring had previously served as an MP in the same house in 2013. Biography Thring was born on 1 February 1963. He obtained a teaching diploma from the Bechet Teachers’ Training College. National Freedom Party
The National Freedom Party (NFP) is a South African political party. It was launched on 25 January 2011 by Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi, former chairperson of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), along with other former IFP members. Election results In the 2011 municipal election, the NFP received 2.4% of the votes cast in South Africa, and 10.4% of the votes cast in KwaZulu-Natal province. It won a majority of seats in the eDumbe Local Municipality and a plurality in Nongoma Local Municipality. Following the 2014 South African general election, the party's leader Magwaza-Msibi was appointed to the position of Deputy Minister of Science and Technology.
