Popstars (French TV Series)
''Popstars'' is a French musical reality TV series based on the international series of the same name. The French television series was broadcast on M6 for 4 seasons and was a pioneer in musical competitions in France. It is currently broadcast on D8. The first season of French ''Popstars'' was launched on 20 September 2001 and continued until 20 December 2001 won by L5, followed by a second season 2002 won by Whatfor, a third season in 2004 (known as Popstars - le duel) won by Linkup, and a fourth season after 4 years of interruption, held in 2007 and won by Sheryfa Luna. The first season was to launch pop groups from casting to the launch of a debut album, whereas series 4 was for launching of a solo artist. Genres of music presented ranged form pop to rock, R&B, rap and hip hop. Contrary to other competitions, eliminations were decided by a jury and not by the public. Youssoupha Mabiki (born August 29, 1979), better known by his nickname Youssoupha () is a French rapper of Congolese descent. Early life and career He was born to a Congolese father, the musician and Congo-Kinshasa political figure Tabu Ley Rochereau and a Senegalese mother. After spending his childhood in Congo-Kinshasa, at the age of 10, he moved to France to live with relatives in Beziers, then Osny, Cergy and Sartrouville. The Mess
The Mess was a French girl group who took part in season 5 of French reality television series ''Popstars'' in 2013 on D8, winning the final on 2 July 2013 against eventual runner-ups, the duo Oslo, which consists of Eugénie and Vincent. The three-member jury made up of La Fouine, Alexia Laroche-Joubert and Philippe Gandilhon opted for The Mess, which consists of Megan, Léa, Chéraze and Kendy. Prior to their third single "Je t'attendrai encore", Kendy left the band. Originally scheduled for 6 October 2014, The Mess' debut album has finally been cancelled by their label Columbia/Sony Music and The Mess split amicably. The group was awarded a record deal that includes at least a debut single and a studio album. The debut single of the winning formation was "Au top" written by Maître Gims and Renaud Rebillaud. Laouni Mouhid ( ar, العوني محيد , ; born 25 December 1981), commonly known by his stage name La Fouine (, ; ), with additional aliases such as Fouiny Babe or just Fouiny (), is a French rapper and singer of Moroccan descent. He is owner of Banlieue Sale and clothing line "Street Swagg". C8 () is a French free-to-air public television channel owned by Groupe Canal+ History D8 was launched in 2012, replacing Direct 8, after purchasing it to Groupe Bolloré. D8 was rebranded C8 on 5 September 2016. C8 was unable to air in Belgium, because Plug RTL had the Belgian rights of ''Touche pas à mon poste !''. Twem are a French pop duo made up of French- Moroccan identical twins Samir and Mehdi Ben Nouh (Arabic: سمير ومهدي بن نوح). They are known for appearances in a number of talent competitions including ''Graines de Stars'', ''Popstars'' and ''X Factor'' programs in both UK in 2010 and France 2011. Career The name Twem (in Arabic توام) means "twin" in colloquial Arabic. It also means "lucky". The Twem come from Marseille, France, and were born in 1983 to Wahiba Ben Nouh.
