''Premonition'' is the second album by American rock band Survivor, released in October 1981 in the United States and February 1982 elsewhere.Strong, Martin C. "The Great Metal Discography." The album, along with many other Survivor albums, was briefly taken out of print in 2009, but was remastered and reissued the following year and distributed by Rock Candy Records. The album includes the singles " Poor Man's Son" (#33, US Chart), one of the songs that would be part of their live set list, and " Summer Nights" (#62, US Chart). Rumbo Recorders
Rumbo Recorders was a recording studio in the Canoga Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. History In 1977, Daryl Dragon and Toni Tennille, the husband and wife team widely known as Captain & Tennille, began building the studio at 20215 Saticoy Street for their own private use following the success of their single "Love Will Keep Us Together". Dragon named the studio Rumbo Recorders after a toy elephant he named Rumbo when he was 5 years old. The studio's entrance was appropriately flanked by a large pair of elephant statues. After reassurance from Geordie Hormel at Village Recorder of the commercial viability of a studio, Dragon hired Rudy Brewer, who had done work at The Village, to complete Studio A. Doug Sax
Doug Lionel Sax (April 26, 1936 – April 2, 2015) was an American mastering engineer from Los Angeles, California. He mastered three of The Doors' albums, including their 1967 debut; six of Pink Floyd's albums, including ''The Wall''; Ray Charles' multiple-Grammy winner ''Genius Loves Company'' in 2004, and Bob Dylan's 36th studio album '' Shadows in the Night'' in 2015. Early life Sax was born in Los Angeles on April 26, 1936, to Mildred and Remy Sax. While attending Fairfax High School in West Los Angeles, Sax played the trumpet alongside trumpeter Herb Alpert. Artie Ripp
Arthur Marcus "Artie" Ripp (born 1940) is an American music industry executive and record producer. Career Early career Ripp began his career as a singer, initially informally harmonizing rock and roll songs with friends from high school. In 1957, Ripp formed an official singing group with neighborhood friends; the group was signed by ABC-Paramount Records as backup singers for ABC solo artists. The singers sang backup for Paul Anka on his 1957 hit " Diana" and broke up shortly thereafter. Ripp rejoined with some of his informal singing partners (Mario "Skippy" Scarpa, Stu Silverman, and Joe Tedesco) to form "The Four Temptations". The quartet wrote its own songs and was signed by ABC-Paramount Records, which released the group's first single in 1958. Artie Kornfeld
Arthur Lawrence Kornfeld (born 1942) is an American musician, record producer, and music executive. He is best known as the music promoter for the Woodstock Festival held in 1969. Kornfeld is also known for his collaborations with Artie Kaplan. Biography Kornfeld was born in 1942 into a Jewish lower-middle-class family in Brooklyn, New York, United States. In his early teens, when his family had moved to North Carolina, he got a job at the Charlotte Coliseum selling soda pop so he could catch acts such as Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, and Fats Domino. He later attended Adelphi College and American University where he would further his music career. By 1966, Kornfeld had written over 75 ''Billboard'' charted songs and participated in over 150 albums. Daryl Dragon
Daryl Frank Dragon (August 27, 1942 – January 2, 2019) was an American musician, known as Captain from the pop musical duo Captain & Tennille with his then-wife, Toni Tennille. Career Born into a musical family, Dragon was the son of Eloise (Rawitzer) and conductor, composer, and arranger Carmen Dragon, and the elder brother of Dennis Dragon, a member of the 1960s pop combo The Dragons and the 1980s surf band the Surf Punks. His godfather was actor and comedian Danny Thomas. Dragon suffered from megalocornea, a condition which results in large eyeballs. It forced him to wear ever-present sunglasses. Dragon's familiar image and stage name came from his time as a keyboard player with The Beach Boys from 1967 to 1972. Dave Bickler
David Bickler (born March 31, 1953) is an American singer, best known as the lead singer for the rock band Survivor from 1978 until 1983, most notably on the #1 U.S. hit "Eye of the Tiger". In addition to his wide vocal range, his trademark look included a beret. Bickler would go on to provide the vocals in advertisements, including Bud Light's " Real Men of Genius" TV and radio commercials. Biography Bickler was born in North Dakota, moved to Willmar, Minnesota, and then graduated from Benet Academy in Lisle, Illinois. His career began in 1968 as one of two lead singers and a musician in the early 1970s American rock group Jamestown Massacre.
