Pool Of Radiance (novel)
''Pool of Radiance'' is a novel based on the ''Pool of Radiance'' computer role-playing game. It was written by Jim Ward (game designer), James Ward and Jane Cooper Hong, and published by TSR, Inc., TSR in November 1989. The novel is set in the Forgotten Realms setting based on the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game. This book was the first in a trilogy, followed by ''Pools of Darkness (novel), Pools of Darkness'' and ''Pool of Twilight (novel), Pool of Twilight''. Jim Ward (game Designer)
James M. Ward (born May 23, 1951) is an American game designer and fantasy author who worked for TSR, Inc. for more than 20 years. Career ''Dungeons & Dragons'' and TSR Ward was one of the players in Gary Gygax's early Greyhawk games as Gygax developed the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' game. The ''Dungeons & Dragons'' character Drawmij was named after him; "Drawmij" is simply "Jim Ward" spelled backwards. Robert J. Kuntz, Rob Kuntz and Ward's ''Gods, Demi-Gods & Heroes'' (1976) expanded the Dungeons & Dragons (1974), original ''D&D'' game by introducing gods. Ward designed ''Metamorphosis Alpha'' (1976), which was the first science-fantasy role-playing game, and published as TSR, Inc., TSR's fourth role-playing game. ''Pool of Radiance'' is a role-playing video game developed and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc (SSI) in 1988. It was the first adaptation of TSR's ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'' (''AD&D'') fantasy role-playing game for home computers, becoming the first episode in a four-part series of ''D&D'' computer adventure games. The other games in the "Gold Box" series used the game engine pioneered in ''Pool of Radiance'', as did later ''D&D'' titles such as the ''Neverwinter Nights'' online game. Mary Kirchoff
Mary L. Kirchoff is an American author of fantasy and young adult novels. Biography Kirchoff was born and raised in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, the city where the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' role-playing game was invented. "I went to school with Ernie Gygax and a number of people who later worked for TSR... I was vaguely aware of the people who played things like the ''D&D'' game at school. Then I went away to college and learned more about roleplaying games. I realized heywere coming from my home town." Kirchoff graduated from Lawrence University with a B.A. in English. ''Dragon'' is one of the two official magazines for source material for the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' role-playing game and associated products, along with ''Dungeon (magazine), Dungeon''. TSR, Inc. originally launched the monthly printed magazine in 1976 to succeed the company's earlier publication, ''The Strategic Review''. The final printed issue was #359 in September 2007. Clyde Caldwell (born February 20, 1948) is an American artist. Self-described as a fantasy illustrator, he is best known for his portrayals of strong, sexy female characters.
