Filip Polášek
Filip Polášek (; born 21 July 1985) is a Slovak professional tennis player who specialises in doubles. He was forced to retire in 2013 due to health issues, but returned in 2018 and began the most successful phase of his career. Polášek won his first Grand Slam title at the 2021 Australian Open alongside Ivan Dodig, and also won the 2019 Cincinnati Masters and 2021 Indian Wells Masters, with Dodig and John Peers respectively. Polášek was the first Slovak man to reach, or win, a major doubles final, and also reached the semifinals at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships, 2020 Australian Open and 2021 US Open. He reached his highest doubles ranking of world No. 7 in February 2020, and has won 17 titles on the ATP Tour, qualifying for the ATP Finals in both 2019 and 2021. Adam Polášek
Adam Polášek (born July 12, 1991) is a Czech ice hockey defenceman currently playing for HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga (ELH). He was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the 5th round, 145th overall of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Polášek went through the full training system of Vítkovice, and played the Czech junior leagues for the team, including the Junior Extraliga. He signed his first professional contract with the Vancouver Canucks on April 7, 2011. Following the pre-season training camp, Polášek was assigned to start the 2011–12 season in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves During the final year of his contract within the Canucks organization, Polášek opted to terminate his contract with Vancouver on December 25, 2013. Albin Polasek
Albin Polasek (February 14, 1879 – May 19, 1965) was a Czech-American sculptor and educator. He created more than 400 works during his career, 200 of which are displayed in the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens in Winter Park, Florida. Career Born as Albín Polášek in Frenštát, Moravia, part of the Austria-Hungary (now in the Czech Republic), Polasek apprenticed as a wood carver in Vienna. At the age of 22, he emigrated to the United States and began formal art training at age 25 under Charles Grafly at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. As a student, he first produced ''Man Carving His Own Destiny'' (1907) and ''Eternal Moment'' (1909). In 1909, Polasek became an American citizen; in 1910, he won the Rome Prize competition; in 1913, he received honorable mention at the Paris Salon for "The Sower;" in 1915, he took the Widener Gold Medal from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts for his sculpture "Aspiration." Libor Polášek (born April 22, 1974) is a retired Czech professional ice hockey centre. He has been described by some Vancouver Canucks fans and journalists as one of the worst first-round draft picks made by that NHL team. Playing career The Canucks selected Polasek ahead of their next selection Michael Peca (who played more than 860 NHL regular-season games). The team hoped that the tall (6’4") Czech center would develop into a Mark Messier-like player. Instead, Polasek had difficulty making an impact even at the minor-league level. He scored a total of just 18 goals over two seasons (1992–1994) playing with the Hamilton Canucks farm team in the AHL. In the AHL playoffs in 1993–94, he scored no goals in three games during Hamilton’s four-games first-round loss to Cornwall.
