Politburo Of The Labour Party Of Albania
The Politburo was the leading organ of the Party of Labour of Albania. It comprised key government ministers and Central Committee secretaries and served as the main administrative and policy-making body, convening on a weekly basis. The following is the composition of the Politburo that would be formed after every Congress of the Party. The politburo for the 1941–48 period is not included. Party Of Labour Of Albania
The Party of Labour of Albania ( sq, Partia e Punës e Shqipërisë, PPSh), sometimes referred to as the Albanian Workers' Party (AWP), was the ruling and sole legal party of Albania during the communist period (1945–1991). It was founded on 8 November 1941 as the Communist Party of Albania (, PKSh) but changed its name in 1948. The party was dissolved on 13 June 1991 and succeeded by the Socialist Party of Albania. For most of its existence, the party was dominated by its First Secretary, Enver Hoxha, who was also the ''de facto'' leader of Albania. Muho Asllani
Muho Asllani (born 1937) is a former Albanian politician of the Albanian Party of Labour (PPSh). He was a member of the Politburo, a representative in the Albanian Parliament for many years, First Secretary of Party in several districts, and member of the Cabinet of Albania during 1976-79. Biography Asllani was born on 17 October 1937 in Bërdicë, near Shkodër, in a poor family. After attending the agricultural technical school in Shkodër, he studied during 1961-1964 at the Agricultural Institute, now the Agricultural University of Tirana (Alb: ''Universiteti Bujqësor Tiranës''). Hajredin Çeliku (born May 4th 1927 - died June 2005) was a former Albanian politician of the Albanian Party of Labour. He was a member of the Albanian Parliament, Politburo of the Party of Labour of Albania, and served as member of the Cabinet of Albania. Simon Stefani (3 January 1929 - 2 August 2000) was an Albanian politician of the communist era. Stefani was born in Përmet. Qirjako Mihali (13 May 1929 - 7 April 2009) was an Albanian politician of the Albanian Party of Labour. He was a candidate-member of the Politburo of the Party of Labour of Albania, Minister of Finance, and member of the Albanian Parliament. Biography Mihali began his career as a functionary of the Party of Labour in the business sector, most recently from 1967 to 1975 he was Director of Nitrogen Producing Plant ("Azotik") in Fier. In January 1975, he became for candidate-member of the Politburo of the Party. He held this position until his retirement in December 1990. Lenka Çuko
Lenka Çuko (born 8 July 1938) is an Albanian former politician of the Albanian Party of Labour (PPSh). Biography Çuko was born in Lushnjë to a family of partial Aromanian origins. In 1970, she was elected first-deputy of the People's Assembly (Albanian: ''Kuvendi Popullor''). She was in member of the parliament from the seventh to the eleventh legislative term which ended in 1991. Moreover, at the 6th Party Congress in November 1971, she was elected member of the Central Committee (CC) of the PPSh, making it one of the few female members of this body. Pali Miska
Pali Miska (19 May 1931 – September 2009) was an Albanian politician of the Communist Era. He served as Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania from 22 November 1982 to 19 February 1987. Miska was first as a party functionary in Fushë Arrëz, the largest Albanian state enterprise for timber production. In 1970, he was elected first-deputy of the People's Assembly (Alb: ''Kuvendi Popullor''), and served as member from the seventh to the end of the eleventh legislative term until 1991. In 1971, he became candidate of the Central Committee (CC) of the selected PPSh, and simultaneously the First Party Secretary in Pukë District in northern Albania. Hekuran Isai (7 May 1933 in Peqin – 26 March 2008 in Tirana) was an Albanian politician of the Albanian Party of Labour (PPSh). Life After joining the Albanian Party of Labour (Alb: ''Partia e Punes së Shqipërisë'') in 1957, he studied in the Soviet Union from 1957 to 1960. On his return Isai served as a specialist in a petroleum refinery in Cërrik. In 1962, he was elected first-deputy of the People's Assembly (Alb: ''Kuvendi Popullor''), and was also elected as a member of the parliament from the fifth until the end of the eleventh legislative, ending in 1991. Llambi Gegprifti (born 14 February 1942, in Pogradec) is a former Albanian politician and mayor of Tirana (precisely Chairman of the Executive Committee of the People's Council of Tirana District) from 1986 through 1987 and 1989 through 1990. Xhafer Spahiu
Xhafer Spahiu (June 5, 1923 – May 19, 1999) was a former Albanian politician of the Albanian Party of Labour (PPSh). He was the only Kosovar Albanian of the higher ranks of the Communist Albania leadership after 1948. Life Spahiu was born in Gjakova, Kosova, at that time part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. He was one of the many communist Kosovo Albanians who came from the same town, such as Emin Duraku, Fadil Hoxha, Sadik Stavaleci, Elham Nimani, etc. During World War II he was part of the guerrilla movement in Albania in charge of the information and communications to the public. Pirro Dodbiba
Pirro Dodbiba (1925–2004) was an Albanian politician of the Albanian Party of Labour (PPSh). Although the nephew of Sokrat Dodbiba, former Minister of Finance in the quisling government of Rexhep Mitrovica during World War II who died in communist prisons, he chose from the beginning the opposite path joining the National Liberation Movement. He served as Party's representative in various places in Communist Albania, and by early 1970s became candidate-member for the Politburo of the Party of Labour of Albania, the highest political ruling entity of that time.
