''Police Story'' ( 경찰관 - ''Gyeongchalgwan'') is a 1979 South Korean film directed by Lee Doo-yong. It was chosen as Best Film at the Grand Bell Awards. Plot A melodrama about a man who chooses the career of a police officer in spite of his girlfriend's objection and social stigma. After he is injured in the line of duty, he and his girlfriend get married. Lee Doo-yong (born December 24, 1942) is a South Korean film director. Since his debut in 1969 with the film ''The Lost Wedding Veil'' (1970), Lee has made more than 60 films in a wide array of genres. In the 1970s, he introduced Korean-style action films, including ''The Korean Connection'' (1974) and ''Left Foot of Wrath'' (1974). His film ''Mulleya Mulleya'' (1984) created great controversy in the Korean media as well as in the West, due to the graphic portrayal of a woman's subjugated life during the Yi Dynasty. The Grand Bell Awards (), also known as the Daejong Film Awards, is an awards ceremony presented annually by The Motion Pictures Association of Korea for excellence in film in South Korea. The Grand Bell Awards retains prestige as the oldest continuous film awards held in South Korea, and has been called the Korean equivalent of the American Academy Awards. Yu Ji-in (born January 27, 1956) is a South Korean actress active since 1974. She was born Lee Yun-hui in Seoul, South Korea in 1956 and received a bachelor's and master's degree in Theater and Film from Chung-Ang University. When she was a freshman at the school in 1974, she started her acting career after getting elected in a joint recruit held by the Yeonbang Film, and Weekly Hankook. From onwards to 1977, she appeared in one to three films per year and at the same time, she also acted as a TV actress affiliated to TBC TV. Yu was commonly referred to as "New Troika" or "Second Troika" along with her rival actresses, Jeong Yun-hui and Chang Mi-hee of the 1970s and 1980s after the "First Troika", Moon Hee, Nam Jeong-im, and Yoon Jeong-hee of the 1960s.
