Poland, officially the Republic of Poland, is a country in Central Europe. It is divided into 16 administrative provinces called voivodeships, covering an area of . Poland has a population of over 38 million and is the fifth-most populous member state of the European Union. Warsaw is the nation's capital and largest metropolis. Other major cities include Kraków, Wrocław, Łódź, Poznań, Gdańsk, and Szczecin. Poland has a temperate transitional climate and its territory traverses the Central European Plain, extending from Baltic Sea in the north to Sudeten and Carpathian Mountains in the south. Nat Polen (June 14, 1914 — May 3, 1981) was an American actor. He is known for his long-running character roles playing physicians on ABC and CBS soap operas. Polen played Dr. Doug Cassen on ''As the World Turns'' for over 9 years, from April 1957 until October 1966. He then played Ephraim Webster on ''The Edge of Night'' and Dr. John Crager on the ABC afternoon version of '' The Nurses''. He later became second acor to portray Dr. Jim Craig on '' One Life to Live'' from 1969 until shortly before his death from pancreatic cancer in 1981. He was also a film actor, playing Lt. Polen Records is an independent music label based in Bogota, Colombia. Created in 2006 by the producer Felipe Alvarez. Polen Record's first release was Bajotierra's ''Los Días Adelante'' (2006), followed by Bomba Estéreo's debut EP, ''Vol.1'', and Chocquibtown's debut LP, ''Somos Pacífico''. Since then, Polen Records has produced or released some of the most important acts of Colombia and South America. In 2013, Polen was nominated at the Latin Grammy Awards with Bomba Estéreo's album ''Elegancia Tropical'' (2012) as Best Alternative Music Album. Lynda Aguirre Thomas (born 21 December 1981), known professionally as Lynda, is a Mexican musician, singer, songwriter and activist. She achieved recognition in her native Mexico during the 1990s and early 2000s. She was signed to EMI Capitol Records and released four studio albums. Her last album, ''Polen'', was released in 2001 and she retired shortly afterwards. Early life and musical debut Thomas was born in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, on 21 December 1981. In 1989, she took part in the TV singing contest ''Fantasía Musical'' featured in Siempre en Domingo. Soon after, she moved to Mexico City and was supported by her sister Alissa (Rosangel), "Max" Di Carlo, Tino Geizer and her husband Carlos Lara, by then, he was her brother-in-law. Rietrik Polén (23 April 1823 – 24 December 1884, Finnish: Rietrikki Polén) was a Finnish journalist and lecturer. He was particularly noteworthy for his outspoken support of the Finnish nationalist movement in the mid-1800s. Biography Rietrik was born to Fredrik Polénin and Severina Blidberg in 1823, graduated high school in 1845, then studied Ancient Languages, History, and Geography at the University of Helsinki where he earned a bachelor's and master's degree in 1850. Doug Polen (born September 2, 1960) is an American former professional motorcycle road racer. Polen was a dominant national and world champion road racer in the late 1980s and early 1990s, culminating with his Superbike world championships in and . He raced successfully in AMA Superbike, Japanese Superbike Championship, Superbike World Championship and endurance racing. Polen was inducted to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2011. The Polen Special, is a homebuilt racing aircraft built to become the fastest four cylinder aircraft in the world. Development The Polen Special, (Also known as the Polen Special II) development started in October 1967 by Dennis Polen and Darryl Usher. The project to build a fast single seat racer larger than Formula One limitations began as a retractable gear Midget Mustang modification. After reviewing engine installation shortcomings, a clean sheet design was started. The Polen Special was then designed around a Piper Comanche engine and cowling, which also had design issues with engine canting and required cowling modifications for a single engine installation. A new clean sheet Lycoming IO-360 installation came afterward. Two sets of retractable landing gear were built and tested, but were sold to other homebuilders.
