Point Pleasant Park
Point Pleasant Park is a large, mainly forested municipal park at the southern tip of the Halifax peninsula. It once hosted several artillery batteries, and still contains the Prince of Wales Tower - the oldest Martello tower in North America (1796). The park is a popular recreational spot for Haligonians, as it hosts forest walks and affords views across the harbour and out toward the Atlantic. Plays are performed in the park every summer by a professional theatre company called Shakespeare by the Sea. The performances take place at Cambridge Battery, and include both Shakespearean productions and original musicals based on classic fairy tales for audiences of all ages. The company also operates the 80-seat Park Place Theatre in the lower parking lot of the park, which is used as a rain venue during the summer, and for fall/winter indoor productions. Point Pleasant, Ohio
Point Pleasant is a small unincorporated community in southern Monroe Township, Clermont County, Ohio, United States. It is on the Ohio River, around southeast of Cincinnati. U.S. Route 52 passes through Point Pleasant, where it intersects State Route 232. History Point Pleasant was platted in 1813. A post office called Point Pleasant that was established in 1826 remained in operation until 1983. By 1833, Point Pleasant had about 130 inhabitants. The Ohio River flood of 1937 inundated the community. Point Pleasant is the birthplace of U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant. The one-story cottage where he was born was taken by barge on a tour across the country, then by rail to Columbus, Ohio, where it was displayed at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. ''Point Pleasant'' is a television series that first aired on the Fox Network in January 2005. It was cancelled in March 2005 due to low ratings. ''Point Pleasant'' boasted many of the same crew behind the scenes as Fox's other shortly withdrawn series, ''Tru Calling''. In fact, ''Point Pleasant'' received the greenlight just three days after production ceased on ''Tru Calling''. 13 episodes were filmed, but due to low ratings, Fox only aired episodes 1–8 in the United States. Episodes 9–11 aired in Sweden, all episodes appeared in New Zealand on back to back weekdays in mid-2007, all episodes aired in The Netherlands in 2008 and the last two episodes are included on the DVD release. Most of the music featured in the series was replaced for the DVD release due to licensing issues. The show's executive producer was Marti Noxon, who worked closely with Joss Whedon for several seasons on ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer''. Point Pleasant is part of the town of Wallsend, Tyne and Wear, England, lying between the town centre and the River Tyne. The historic area was once the home of Wallsend Slipway & Engineering Company, which built engines for some of the most famous ships constructed on the Tyne. The site is now owned by Shepherd Offshore. Point Pleasant Hall was an historic mansion dating back several hundred years, until most of it was demolished in the 1930s. During this demolition, an abandoned tunnel was found in the main hall which it is believed may have led to Jarrow Monastery, although this has never been substantiated. In late 2009, the one remaining wing of the old hall (subsequently known as Point Pleasant House) was demolished pending further development. Glen Burnie is an unincorporated town and census-designated place (CDP) in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. It is a suburb of Baltimore. The population of Glen Burnie was 67,639 at the 2010 census. History In 1812, Elias Glenn, a district attorney, established a county seat near what is currently known as Brooklyn Park.
