PODS (company)
PODS, or Portable On Demand Storage, is a moving and storage company. It was founded in 1998 and is based in Clearwater, Florida. PODS is owned by the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. History PODS was founded in 1998 by Peter Warhurst who was looking to expand his family's storage business. He invented PODS containers, as well as a hydraulic lift system that enables operators to easily deliver and transport the units, which he named ''PODZILLA''. In 2003, PODS received an equity investment of $15M from the Hunt Private Equity Group, along with a $25M senior credit facility from Congress Financial Corp. In 2005, PODS grossed over $200 million in revenue, and was still privately owned. By then, the company was franchised in 45 states, and logged 2,500 pickups and deliveries a day. Capsule hotel ( ja, カプセルホテル, kapuseru hoteru), also known in the Western world as a pod hotel, is a type of hotel developed in Japan that features many small bed-sized rooms known as capsules. Capsule hotels provide cheap, basic overnight accommodation for guests who do not require or who cannot afford larger, more expensive rooms offered by more conventional hotels. The first capsule hotel in the world opened in 1979 and was the Capsule Inn Osaka, located in the Umeda district of Osaka, Japan and designed by Kisho Kurokawa. James Podsiadly (born 10 September 1981) is a former professional Australian rules football player who played for the Geelong Football Club and the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted by as a mature-age rookie at pick #50 in the 2010 rookie draft and was traded to Adelaide after the 2013 season. Early life Podsiadly grew up in the Melbourne suburb of Spotswood. The Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS) Pipeline Data Model provides the database architecture pipeline operators use to store critical information and analysis data about their pipeline systems, and to manage this data geospatially in a linear-referenced database which can then be visualized in any GIS platform. Since its inception in 1998 PODS has supported the growing and changing needs of the pipeline industry through ongoing development and maintenance of the Data Model and Standards.
