Plymouth, Merthyr Tydfil
Plymouth is the name of an electoral ward of Merthyr Tydfil, in Wales. It is coterminous with the community of Troed-y-rhiw. Description The Plymouth ward covers the community of Troed-y-rhiw and includes the villages of Troed-y-rhiw, Pentrebach and Abercanaid. It elects three councillors to Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council. At the May 2017 elections the three Labour Party councillors, Gareth Lewis (967), Brent Carter (884) and Harvey Jones (860), successfully defended their seats. Labour had previously held all three seats at the council elections in 1995, 1999 and 2004. Merthyr Tydfil County Borough
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough ( cy, Bwrdeistref Sirol Merthyr Tudful) is a county borough (since 1908) in the south-east of Wales. In mid 2018, it had an estimated population of 60,183. It is located in the historic county of Glamorgan and takes its name from the town with the same name. The county borough consists of the northern part of the Taff Valley and the smaller neighbouring Taff Bargoed Valley. It borders the counties of Rhondda Cynon Taf to the west, Caerphilly County Borough to the east, and Powys to the north. Public Services Ombudsman For Wales
The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales (in Welsh ''Ombwdsmon Gwasanaethau Cyhoeddus Cymru'') was established bsection 1(1)of the Public Services Ombudsman (Wales) Act 2005. The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales brings together the jurisdictions of various offices he replaced, namely the Local Government Ombudsman for Wales, the Health Service Ombudsman for Wales, the Welsh Administration Ombudsman and the Social Housing Ombudsman for Wales. The Ombudsman has a dual role. Firstly, under the above Act, he investigates complaints by members of the public concerning maladministration, failure in a relevant service or failure to provide a relevant service by any "listed authority" in Wales. Abercanaid
Abercanaid ( cy, Abercannaid) is a small village in the county borough of Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales, United Kingdom with a population of about 5,060. It is situated south of Merthyr town centre and is west of Pentrebach, across the River Taff and north of Troedyrhiw. The Taff Trail runs through the village, adjacent to the path of the disused Glamorganshire Canal, which was an important in transporting iron and coal during the industrial boom in which the South Wales Valleys prospered. It forms part of three villages in the Plymouth Electoral Ward, along with Pentrebach and Troedyrhiw. History and amenities Most of the Housing Estate was built in 1860 to sustain the collieries. Pentrebach
Pentrebach (, sometimes written Pentre-Bach, literally: ''small village'') is a village in Merthyr Tydfil County Borough, Wales and is formed from the original settlements of Lower Pentrebach, Tai-bach and Duffryn. It lies on the east side of the River Taff opposite Abercanaid, south of Merthyr and north of Troedyrhiw. To the east of the village lies the Mynydd Cilfach-yr-Encil which rises up to . Pentrebach is part of the Plymouth electoral ward which covers Pentrebach, Abercanaid and Troedyrhiw. The village was founded at the time that John Guest built the Plymouth Ironworks in 1763.
