Plummer House (Beebe, Arkansas)
The Plummer House is a historic house at 314 Alabama Street in Beebe, Arkansas. It is a single story wood-frame structure, with a gable roof, novelty siding, and a foundation of stone piers. It is a vernacular double-pile box framed building, constructed about 1915. It is a well-preserved example of this type of period construction in White County. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. Sir John Alexander Macdonald (January 10 or 11, 1815 – June 6, 1891) was the first prime minister of Canada, serving from 1867 to 1873 and from 1878 to 1891. The dominant figure of Canadian Confederation, he had a political career that spanned almost half a century. Macdonald was born in Scotland; when he was a boy his family immigrated to Kingston in the Province of Upper Canada (today in eastern Ontario). As a lawyer, he was involved in several high-profile cases and quickly became prominent in Kingston, which elected him in 1844 to the legislature of the Province of Canada. By 1857, he had become premier under the colony's unstable political system. In 1864, when no party proved capable of governing for long, Macdonald agreed to a proposal from his political rival, George Brown, that the parties unite in a Great Coalition to seek federation and political reform. The Plummer House is the former residence of Henry Stanley Plummer, Dr. Henry Stanley Plummer and Daisy Berkman Plummer. Located in Rochester, Minnesota and originally called ''Quarry Hill'', the Tudor style architecture, English Tudor mansion stood on a estate which included a greenhouse, water tower, garage, and gazebo. The house is also called Henry S. Plummer House. Dr. Plummer, a Mayo Clinic partner and founder, worked very closely with Ellerby and Round, the architects of record, on the design of the house. The house includes many innovations that were quite novel for their time, including a central vacuum system, underground sprinkler system, intercommunications system, dumbwaiter (elevator), dumbwaiter, security system, electricity and gas lighting, the first gas furnace in the city, garage door openers, heated pool, water tower, and two caves going into the house and the water tower. Plummer Homestead
The Plummer Homestead is a historic house museum at 1273 White Mountain Highway in Milton, New Hampshire. Built in the 1810s and repeatedly extended, it dates to the early settlement period of Milton, and is, along with the adjacent Plumer-Jones Farm, one of the oldest farm properties in the state. Both are now part of the New Hampshire Farm Museum. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. Description and history The Plummer Homestead is located on the west side of White Mountain Highway (New Hampshire Route 125) in central Milton. It is a typical 19th-century New England connected farmstead, with a main house, "little house", "back house", and barn, extending westward from the road.
