A Playmate is a female model featured in the centerfold/gatefold of ''Playboy'' magazine as Playmate of the Month (PMOTM). The PMOTM's pictorial includes nude photographs and a centerfold poster, along with a pictorial biography and the "Playmate Data Sheet", which lists her birthdate, measurements, turn-ons, and turn-offs. At the end of the year, one of the 12 Playmates of the Month is named Playmate of the Year (PMOTY). Every Playmate of the Month is awarded a prize of US$25,000 and each Playmate of the Year receives an additional prize of US$100,000 plus a car (specifically, a short-term lease of a car) and other discretionary gifts. In addition, Anniversary Playmates are usually chosen to celebrate a milestone year of the magazine. Mauritz Stiller
Mauritz Stiller (born Moshe Stiller, 17 July 1883 – 18 November 1928) was a Swedish film director of Finnish Jewish origin, best known for discovering Greta Garbo and bringing her to America. Stiller had been a pioneer of the Swedish film industry, writing and directing many short films from 1912. When Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer invited him to Hollywood as a director, he arrived with his new discovery Greta Gustafsson, whose screen name Greta Garbo is believed to have been his suggestion. After frequent disagreements with studio executives at MGM and Paramount Pictures, Stiller returned to Sweden, where he died soon afterwards. Life Moshe Stiller was born in Helsinki. ''Playmates'' within cinema of the United Kingdom, is a 1922 silent comic film clip of the (then) young comedian Will Hay dressed as a school boy, and playing with a girl and some mechanical children's toys, from his theatrical revue 'Listening In'. Synopsis Introducing some clever mechanical toys, M'lita Dolores dressed as a young girl, stands on steps in front of a door - enter Will Hay dressed as a schoolboy. They show each other a number of toy animals that walk and jump. They quarrel and he boylike wants the best, takes away a toy which she snatches back. Diana Serra Cary (born Peggy-Jean Montgomery; October 29, 1918 – February 24, 2020), known as Baby Peggy, was an American child film actress, vaudevillian, author and silent film historian. She was the last living person with a substantial career in silent films. Baby Peggy was one of the three major American child stars of the Hollywood silent film era along with Jackie Coogan and Baby Marie. "Playmates" is a popular song ostensibly written by Saxie Dowell. The main theme was note-for-note plagiarized from the 1904 intermezzo "Iola" by Charles L. Johnson, for which Johnson sued, settling out of court for an undisclosed sum. Recordings in 1940 were made by Kay Kyser and his orchestra (vocals: Sully Mason & His Playmates), by Mitchell Ayres and His Fashions In Music (vocals: Mary Ann Mercer & Tommy Taylor), and by Hal Kemp and the Smoothies. The Johnny McGee orchestra also recorded it in February 1940 with the vocal done by Harry Garret (actually Harry Garey) and Carol Anderson. Harry's name was misspelled on the Varsity label. The Kay Kyser recording was released by Columbia Records as catalog number 35375. The record first reached the Billboard magazine charts on July 20, 1940 (the first week that Billboard listed a chart) and lasted one week on the chart, peaking at number four. ''Playmates'' is the fourth studio album, and the first during their reunion, by English rock band the Small Faces. The album was created by Steve Marriott, Ian McLagan, Kenney Jones and Rick Wills when they reformed in the late seventies and recorded it along with the album ''78 in the Shade''. Ronnie Lane left before the album was recorded. Reunion: 1975–1978 Following the break-up of Faces in 1975, the original Small Faces line-up reformed briefly to film videos miming to the reissued "Itchycoo Park", which hit the charts again. The group tried recording together again but Lane left after the first rehearsal due to an argument. Unbeknownst to the others, he was just beginning to show the symptoms of multiple sclerosis, and his behaviour was misinterpreted by Marriott and the others as a drunken tantrum. Andrew Neiderman (born October 26, 1940) is a best-selling American novelist. In 1987, he became the ghost writer for V. C. Andrews following her death in 1986. He formerly taught English at Fallsburg Jr./Sr. High School, in upstate New York. Neiderman is arguably best known as the author of ''The Devil's Advocate'', later adapted into a film starring Keanu Reeves, Al Pacino, and Charlize Theron, and directed by Taylor Hackford. Neiderman also adapted the novel ''Rain'' into a film, based on a series of novels released under Andrews's name.
