Gerard Piqué Bernabeu (, ; born 2 February 1987) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. He is considered one of the best defenders of his generation. Initially a highly promising student at La Masia, Piqué joined Manchester United in 2004. He returned to Barcelona in 2008 under Pep Guardiola's leadership and helped the club win trebles in 2008–09 and 2014–15. He is one of only four players to have won the UEFA Champions League two years in a row with different teams, the others being Marcel Desailly, Paulo Sousa and Samuel Eto'o. Piqué also represented Spain 102 times, making his debut on 11 February 2009. He played an integral role on the Spanish teams that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012. Josep Piqué i Camps (born 21 February 1955 in Vilanova i la Geltrú) is a Spanish politician of the right-leaning Spanish People's Party (PP) who represented Barcelona. Pique was initially a member of the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSUC) but left the grouping and subsequently joined the Union of the Democratic Centre. Political career Between 1986 and 1988, Piqué served as Director General of Industry under the Convergence and Union government of Catalonia. After the People's Party election in 1996, Piqué was appointed Spanish Minister for Industry as an independent member. He served as Spain's foreign minister from 2000 to 2002. Lorenzo Piqué (born 17 September 1990) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a centre-back for club Kozakken Boys. Club career In his youth, Piqué played for Feyenoord, but never made his debut. He played most of his games for the reserve team, Jong Feyenoord. In 2009, Piqué was transferred to ADO Den Haag, where he signed a contract until the summer of 2010. Because of the injury of his cousin, Mitchell Piqué, he played many friendly games in the pre-season as left-back. He made his debut in the 3–0 loss to Ajax on 27 September due to an injury of Ahmed Ammi.
