Pinal County Sheriff's Office
Formed in 1875, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) is the 3rd largest sheriff's office in Arizona, serving unincorporated areas of Pinal County, Arizona. PCSO provides patrol services, criminal investigation, search and rescue services, and operates the county jail. PCSO's annual budget is nearly 40 million dollars annually, which covers all aspects of the Sheriff’s Office to include the Detention Center. There are nearly 500 employees within the department, 220 are patrol deputies. PCSO is headquartered in Florence, AZ. The current Sheriff is Mark Lamb, elected in November, 2016. Pinal County is in the central part of the U.S. state of Arizona. According to the 2020 census, the population of the county was 425,264, making it Arizona's third-most populous county. The county seat is Florence. The county was founded in 1875. Pinal County contains parts of the Tohono Oʼodham Nation, the Gila River Indian Community and the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation, as well as all of the Ak-Chin Indian Community. Pinal County is included in the Phoenix–Mesa– Scottsdale, Arizona Metropolitan Statistical Area. Maricopa is a city in the Gila River Valley in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. With 62,720 residents as of 2021, Maricopa is the largest incorporated municipality in Pinal County History Maricopa has had three locations over the years: Maricopa Wells, Maricopaville and Maricopa Junction; the latter gradually became known as Maricopa. It started as an oasis around a series of watering holes eight miles north of present-day Maricopa, and about a mile west of Pima Butte. ''60 Days In'' is a television docuseries on A&E. Internationally it is known as ''The Jail: 60 Days In'' and airs in over 100 other countries. In the series, volunteers are incarcerated as undercover prisoners for 60 days. The show premiered on March 10, 2016. Season 2 premiered August 18, 2016. Seasons 1 and 2 took place in Clark County Jail in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Seasons 3 and 4 saw the show's setting moved to the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta. It followed police officers in the course of their patrols live, broadcasting select encounters with the nation. The show was hosted by Dan Abrams with analysis provided by Tom Morris Jr. and Lt. Paul Raymond Babeu (pronounced ''BAB-you''; born February 3, 1969) is an American law enforcement officer, politician and member of the Republican Party who was sheriff of Pinal County, Arizona, from January 1, 2009, to January 1, 2017. He was Pinal County's first Republican sheriff. Babeu ran for Arizona's 4th congressional district in the 2012 elections to the United States House of Representatives but withdrew and came out as gay after a personal controversy. The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program is a drug-prohibition enforcement program run by the United States Office of National Drug Control Policy. It was established in 1990 after the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988 was passed. The HIDTA program was made permanent through Title III of the Office of National Drug Control Policy Reauthorization Act of 2006. In the U.S. state of Arizona, Interstate 10 (I‑10), the major east–west Interstate Highway in the United States Sun Belt, runs east from California, enters Arizona near the town of Ehrenberg and continues through Phoenix and Tucson and exits at the border with New Mexico near San Simon.
