Pilerne Citizens' Forum
Pilerne is a village situated in north Goa in the Bardez taluka of the North Goa district. It is rustic despite being fairly close to the North Goa tourist belt, and is considered a Census Town for the purposes of the Census. The village has mainly been inhabited by Goan Catholics. Area and population For the purposes of the Census, Pilerne is considered to be a Census Town. Its location area code is 626700. Pilerne (has an area of 6.54 sq.km. and a total population of 1,482 households. Its population is 5,827: 3,024 males and 2,803 females. Pilerne's under-six population is made up of 577 children: 289 boys and 288 girls. Setting Pilerne lies between green paddy fields and hillocks of the sub-district of Bardez. The village has a thick cover of teak and Sal trees native to the Western Ghats and is known for its proliferation of bird life. Museum Of Goa
The Museum of Goa (MOG), is a privately owned contemporary art gallery in Pilerne Industrial Estate, near Calangute, Goa, India. Founded in 2015, it is 1,500 square meters in size. It has no permanent collection. It was founded by Goan artist Subodh Kerkar. The museum organises various exhibitions, art courses, plays, residencies, workshops, book readings, lectures, screenings and talks. History Kerkar had purchased this land more than 20 years ago when the government was trying to attract people to set up industries in the area. Later, when he got a notice from the government since his land was not utilized, he decided to start the museum. For this, he sold another piece of land and received INR 3.5 crore that was used to create the museum. Joseph Furtado
Joseph Furtado (Furtadovaddo, 7 April 1872-Bombay 1 January 1947) was an early South Asian poet and novelist who wrote in the English language. Subodh Kerkar
Subodh Kerkar (born 26 August 1959) is an Indian painter, sculptor and installation artist, and founder of the private art gallery Museum of Goa. He is known for his artworks and installations. Kerkar's work has been displayed in India and abroad, including at art exhibitions such as the Sculpture by the Sea in 2011 and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2018. One of his recent installations is the 2017 ''Carpet of Joy.''
