Pico De Las Nieves
Pico de las Nieves is the second highest peak on the island of Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. Its height is above sea level. It is of volcanic origin ( stratovolcano). On its slopes, Canary Islands Pine was reintroduced in the 1950s. Traditionally, Pico de las Nieves has been considered the highest peak on the island of Gran Canaria; however, this is uncertain since Morro de la Agujereada stands at , which would make it higher than Pico de las Nieves. The two mountains stand next to each other. Gran Canaria has the highest elevation of the province of Las Palmas and the third highest in the Canary Islands. Ultra Prominent Peak
An ultra-prominent peak, or Ultra for short, is a mountain summit with a topographic prominence of or more; it is also called a P1500. The prominence of a peak is the minimum height of climb to the summit on any route from a higher peak, or from sea level if there is no higher peak. There are approximately 1,524 such peaks on Earth. Some well-known peaks, such as the Matterhorn and Eiger, are not Ultras because they are connected to higher mountains by high cols and therefore do not achieve enough topographic prominence.
