Physicist (Devin Townsend Album)
''Physicist'' is the fourth solo album by Canadian musician Devin Townsend. The album was released on June 26, 2000, on Townsend's label, HevyDevy Records. ''Physicist'' is distinguished from the rest of Townsend's solo portfolio for the crossing of the style of his work in Strapping Young Lad with elements that had been explored in '' Ocean Machine: Biomech'' and '' Infinity''. Notably, the line-up of musicians featured on this album is identical to that of Strapping Young Lad. Background ''Physicist'' took several years to come to fruition. Townsend had previously played with Metallica's then-bassist Jason Newsted, in a short-lived thrash metal project called IR8. After the creation of an IR8 demo tape, Townsend and Newsted began work on a new project called ''Fizzicist'', which they claimed would be "heavier than Strapping Young Lad". Devin Townsend
Devin Garrett Townsend (born May 5, 1972) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He founded extreme metal band Strapping Young Lad and was its primary songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist from 1994 to 2007. He has also had an extensive solo career and has released a total of 28 albums across all of his projects as of 2022. After performing in a number of heavy metal bands in high school, Townsend was discovered in 1993 by a record label who asked him to perform lead vocals on Steve Vai's album '' Sex & Religion''. After recording and touring with Vai, he was discouraged by what he found in the music industry and vented his anger on his 1995 solo album '' Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing'', which he released under the pseudonym Strapping Young Lad. ''Metal Maniacs'' was an American magazine that was based around heavy metal music. History Founded in 1989 by Mike 'G' Greenblatt and Katherine Ludwig of Metal Shop. Where its sister publication ''Metal Edge'' largely covered glam metal, ''Metal Maniacs'' focused largely on covering the more extreme sub-genres of heavy metal such as thrash and death metal genres. ''Transcendence'' is the seventeenth studio album by Canadian musician Devin Townsend. It is the seventh and final album in the Devin Townsend Project series. It was released on September 9, 2016, via HevyDevy Records. Background Transcendence is the first Devin Townsend album not to be produced solely by Townsend, by featuring ex- Periphery member Adam "Nolly" Getgood as additional producer, engineer and mixer. Anneke Van Giersbergen
Anna Maria "Anneke" van Giersbergen (born 8 March 1973) is a Dutch singer, songwriter and guitarist who became known worldwide as the lead singer for the rock band The Gathering between 1994 and 2007. She also has a solo career. The project was originally called Agua de Annique, but now goes by her own name. A frequent collaborator of Arjen Anthony Lucassen, she portrayed main characters in the albums '' Into the Electric Castle'', ''01011001'' and ''The Theater Equation'' by his project Ayreon.
