Philo of Alexandria (; ; ; ), also called , was a Hellenistic Jewish philosopher who lived in Alexandria, in the Roman province of Egypt. The only event in Philo's life that can be decisively dated is his representation of the Alexandrian Jews in a delegation to the Roman emperor Caligula in 40 CE following civil strife between the Jewish and Greek communities of Alexandria. Philo was a leading writer of the Hellenistic Jewish community in Alexandria, Egypt. He wrote expansively in Koine Greek on philosophy, politics, and religion in his time; specifically, he explored the connections between Greek Platonic philosophy and late Second Temple Judaism. The Philo Power Plant was a 510 megawatt (megawatt, MW), Fossil fuel power station#Coal, coal power plant located in Philo, Ohio, Philo in Muskingum County, Ohio. It was the first power plant in the United States to apply steam reheat and supercritical steam generator technologies for its turbines. The plant had six units and its operations were handled by Ohio Power, a forerunner of American Electric Power (AEP). It operated from 1924 until ceasing in 1975. Mark Philo
Mark William Philo (5 October 1984 – 14 January 2006) was an English professional footballer. He spent his whole professional career at Wycombe Wanderers making 19 first-team appearances. He died on 14 January 2006 following a road traffic collision. An inquiry into the crash, which also resulted in the death of the driver of another car, found that it was caused by Philo driving whilst intoxicated by alcohol. Career Philo was born in Bracknell, Berkshire, and joined Wycombe at the age of 15, having been on the books of both West Ham United and Crystal Palace.
