Philippines Women's National Softball Team
The Philippines Women's National Softball Team, nicknamed the "Blu Girls", is the national team of Philippines. They are governed by the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines. They won a bronze medal in 1970 ISF Women's World Championship in Osaka, Japan and it was their first medal won in a World Championship. The Philippines is among the best teams in Southeast Asia having won the gold medal in every edition of the Southeast Asian Games which had women's softball event. History The Philippine women's team were a powerhouse in Asia never placing outside the top 10 in the global rankings during the 1970s although the Philippines always ranked behind Japan. Softball At The 2008 Summer Olympics
Softball at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing took place over a ten-day period starting August 12 and culminating in the medal finals on August 21. All games were played at the Fengtai Softball Field. Olympic softball is a women only competition, with men competing in the similar sport of baseball. This is the most recently contested softball tournament in Olympic history, as the International Olympic Committee voted to remove baseball from the program in the 2012 Olympics. Along with baseball, softball was rejected for inclusion in the 2016 Summer Olympics at the IOC's meeting in October 2009. However, following a 2016 IOC vote, softball was included for the 2020 Games. The 1990 ISF Women's World Championship for softball was held July 13–21, 1990 in Normal, Illinois, United States. The host United States won their second straight title after the event's final was rained out. 2024 Women's Softball World Cup
The 2024 Women's Softball World Cup will be the 18th Women's Softball World Cup, an international softball tournament taking place in Balbriggan, Ireland; Buttrio and Castions di Strada, Italy and Valencia, Spain. The group stage will take place from 11–26 July 2023, held as three separate groups across three nations. The finals will take place in Buttrio and Castions di Strada, Italy from 15–21 July 2024. Morgan Stuart
Morgan Teressa Janai Stuart (born February 8, 1989) is an American-Filipino softball coach and former infielder. She played college softball at Washington and was on the 2009 Women's College World Series championship team. She also played on the Philippines women's national softball team. Early life and education Born in Long Beach, California, Stuart grew up in Riverside and graduated with a 4.0 GPA from Riverside Polytechnic High School. At the University of Washington, Stuart started regularly at both shortstop and third base for the Washington Huskies softball team from 2008 to 2011. Stuart earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors three times, in 2008, 2009, and 2011. In 2009, the year when Washington won the Women's College World Series, Stuart started all 63 games, with 36 at third base and 27 at shortstop and a team-leading 37 RBI.
