The Philippines national rugby league team (nicknamed the Tamaraws) represent the Philippines in international rugby league football matches. They were established in 2011. In their short history the Tamaraws have been relatively successful, being repeated Asian Cup winners and regularly participating in the Cabramatta International 9s rugby league tournament. History The Philippines National Rugby League (PNRL) was established in 2011 with a view of expanding rugby league further into Asia. The PNRL oversees the running of the national team, in 2011 it was announced that the Philippines would be playing their first game of rugby league at the 2012 at the Cabramatta International Nines, while also being involved in other organized international rugby league tournaments in the Asia-Pacific region. The Philippines National Rugby League Championship (or the PNRL for short) is the top level domestic rugby league competition in the Philippines. History The Philippines National Rugby League was first formed in 2012. In 2013 the Philippines commenced their first rugby league (touch) competition with 6 teams participating along with a further 3, participating in Rugby League 9s. A full scale 13 a side rugby league competition is scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2016. With 4 teams are set to compete in the inaugural season. By October 13, 2016, it was reported that the league is now known as the Philippine Tamaraw Rugby League. The 2017 Rugby League World Cup was the fifteenth staging of the Rugby League World Cup tournament and took place in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea between 27 October and 2 December 2017. The Turkey national rugby league team represents Turkey in international rugby league. The team played their first match in 2018. History The Turkish Rugby League Association was founded in 2016, however the team didn't play their first match until two years later. The side made their competition debut at the 2018 Emerging Nations World Championship in Sydney, defeating the Solomon Islands national rugby league team, Solomon Islands 30–22 in their first ever match. The team also beat Japan national rugby league team, Japan 60–0, qualifying them for the tournament's trophy stage. The Hungary national rugby league team, known as the Magyar Bulls, represents Hungary in the sport of rugby league football. Serbia National Rugby League Team
The Serbia national rugby league team represents Serbia in the sport of rugby league football. They have competed in international competition since 2003 under the administration of the Serbian Rugby League. They are coached by Englishman Darren Fisher, and captained by Stevan Stevanović. History 1950s–1960s Rugby League was first played in Serbia in 1953 when it was introduced by Dragan Marsicevic, secretary of the Yugoslav Sport Association. Two French teams toured later that year, and in 1954 the clubs Partizan and Radnički were formed. These clubs played their first match on 26 April 1954. In 1961 a Yugoslav Rugby League team played its only game against a French Select XIII team in Banja Luka. The French team won 13–0. Paul Sheedy
Paul Sheedy (born 16 February 1981), is an Australian former professional rugby footballer. He played rugby league for the Melbourne Storm in 2001, and he played rugby union for the New South Wales Waratahs between 2001 and 2004. Early life Sheedy attended secondary school at Marist College Ashgrove in Brisbane, where he played rugby for Ashgrove's 1st XV team in 1997 and 1998. He was selected for the Australian Schoolboys team in 1998 and played scrum-half in the -winning team that defeated Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England on their 1998–99 tour. A † denotes a recognised, but unofficial match that did not contribute to the IRL World Rankings. 2013 Rugby League Asian Cup
The 2013 Rugby League Asian Cup is the second staging of the Rugby League Asian Cup which was contested by Thailand and the Philippines. Japan was originally set to participate in the tournament but later withdrew due to lack of available players. The tournament was also originally set to be held at the Challenger Field in Clark in Angeles, Pampanga but was moved to San Narciso, Zambales after the owner of the original venue, the Philippine Air Force, cancelled the booking of the tournament organizers because the field was needed for military maneuvers.
