Philip Scrubb
Philip Alexander Scrubb (born November 27, 1992) is a Canadian–British professional basketball player for Monbus Obradoiro of the Liga ACB. He is a 6'4½" (1.94 m) tall guard. During his college basketball career, he won five CIS championships with the Carleton University Ravens, before embarking on a professional career. Scrubb is considered one of the greatest players in CIS basketball history. High school career Scrubb played high school basketball at Vancouver College, under the basketball coach Bill Disbrow. College career Scrubb's career is perhaps the most accomplished in the history of Canadian Interuniversity Sport basketball. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. 2015 FIBA Americas Championship
The 2015 FIBA Americas Championship for Men, later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was the FIBA Americas qualifying tournament for the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Brazil. This FIBA AmeriCup tournament was held in Mexico City, Mexico. The tournament was won for the first time by the Venezuelan national basketball team. FIBA AmeriCup
The FIBA AmeriCup (previously known as the FIBA Americas Championship) is the Americas Basketball Championship that takes place every four years between national teams of the Western Hemisphere continents. Since FIBA organised the entire Western Hemisphere west of the Atlantic Ocean under one zone, countries from North America, Central America, the Caribbean and South America compete in this tournament. Through the 2015 edition, the Americas Championship took place every two years, and was also a qualifying tournament for the FIBA World Cup and the Summer Olympic Games. However, since 2017, the AmeriCup, along with all other FIBA continental championships for men are played once every four years. Lois And Doug Mitchell U Sports Athletes Of The Year Awards
The Lois and Doug Mitchell U Sports Athletes of the Year Awards, formerly known as the Lieutenant Governor Athletic Awards, Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG) Awards, and Howard, Mackie Awards, are given annually to top male and female athletes in Canadian universities that are members of U Sports. 2012 CIS Men's Basketball Championship
The 2012 CIS Men's Final 8 Basketball Tournament was held March 9–11, 2012. It was the second of two consecutive CIS Championships to be held at the Halifax Metro Centre before moving to Scotiabank Place in Ottawa for two years. The defending champions were the Carleton Ravens, who won their 7th title in nine years and who return to the tournament with an undefeated record of 31-0 in CIS play. They were joined by six other qualifiers and one wild card team. This was the 50th CIS Men's basketball championship. The top-seeded Carleton Ravens defeated the second-seeded Alberta Golden Bears by a score of 86-67, winning their second consecutive W. P. McGee Trophy and their record-tying eighth overall.
