Phil Ryan is an English musician, writer and entrepreneur. He has toured with The Animals and is co-founder of ''The Big Issue'' and The 12 Bar Club. Music Ryan started his musical career as a session guitarist, recording with various well known artists and headlining at festivals all across England throughout the 1980s. The early 1990s saw him touring Europe and the United States, with performances in Stockholm, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Barcelona, Munich, Nuremberg and Berlin, among others. In 1992, Ryan joined The Animals as lead singer and performed with them at the 'Children of Chernobyl' benefit concert in Moscow's Red Square in front of an audience of 100,000. In 2001, he recorded his first solo album, ''Storm Warning'', and toured European festivals, such as the Bardentreffen in Nuremberg, Germany, with it. Phillip James Ryan AM (9 June 1915 – 7 January 2014) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 1991, for services to the community and sport. Playing career Ryan played his early football at Kew CYMS and was a member of Old Xaverians's 1938 premiership team. He spent six years in the VFL, during which time he made 52 league appearances for Hawthorn, mostly as a ruckman and up forward. His younger brother, Ted Ryan, played with Collingwood in the 1940s. Administration From 1948 to 1967, Ryan served in a variety of positions at Hawthorn, including Vice President, Chairman of Selectors and Treasurer. Ryan was club President from 1968 until 1979, with Hawthorn winning three premierships while he was in the role. In 1980, Ryan became the VFL's Commissioner for player payments. Phil Ryan (21 October 1946 – 30 April 2016) was a Welsh keyboardist and composer known for his work with Man and Pete Brown. Early career Born in Port Talbot, Ryan played trombone in the National Youth Orchestra, but his rock career started in 1964 when he formed the Port Talbot/Neath band The Smokestacks, with John Hockin, Gary Pickford-Hopkins, Peter Randal and Gerald Trolley. Career Eyes of Blue In 1966 Ryan and Hopkins – together with the drummer John Weathers – joined The Eyes of Blue, who then turned professional. They won the 1966 Melody Maker Beat Contest, winning a one-year record contract, but had to record songs chosen for them, rather than their own material, and neither of their singles, "Heart Trouble" / "Up And Down" and "Supermarket Full of Cans" / "Don't Ask Me To Mend Your Broken Heart", sold well. Phillip R. Ryan (born August 10, 1945) is a former Texas Ranger and the three-term Sheriff of Wise County, Texas. He entered law enforcement in 1966 at age 21, initially serving as a police officer in Pasadena in Harris County, Texas. He later joined the Texas Department of Public Safety as a highway patrolman assigned to Houston and Cleveland, Texas. In 1976, he was promoted to highway patrol sergeant, which took him to Humble, Texas. He applied for and was accepted to service in the Texas Ranger Division and served as a Ranger in Decatur, which also covered Jack, Montague, and Clay counties. As a Texas Ranger, Ryan worked many cases that made him well known not only throughout the state, but throughout the nation. He is most notable for his arrest of serial killer Henry Lee Lucas, but also was the Texas Ranger assigned to the Ricky Lee and Sharon Green case, two of the most notorious serial killers in Wise County, Texas history.
