Phil O'Sullivan
Philip O'Sullivan (10 May 1895 – August 1952) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for a number of clubs in Kerry and Dublin and at inter-county level with the Kerry senior football team. He usually lined out as a defender. Career As a Gaelic footballer, hurler and athlete, O'Sullivan played his football with Lauragh and hurling with Kenmare. While a student in Dublin, he played with Faughs and University College Dublin and later when he took up a teaching post in Ballymacelligott he played with the local team. O'Sullivan first appeared on the inter-county scene as a member of the Kerry junior football team that won the All-Ireland Junior Championship title in 1915. He was subsequently promoted to the senior team and, after being on the losing side to Dublin in the 1923 All-Ireland final, captained the team to the All-Ireland Senior Championship title the following year. All-Ireland Junior Football Championship
The All-Ireland Junior Football Championship is a GAA competition involving four Junior Gaelic football inter-county teams. Prior to a change in competition structure in 2021, the competition was previously for all Junior Gaelic football inter-county teams in Ireland. In this previous format, the definition of what constituted a Junior player differed from county to county. In some, the junior team was the second team after the senior team. This meant that any players who had not played with the senior team could play with the junior team. In others, such as Cork and Kerry, players could only be chosen from clubs that played in junior or intermediate grades. These counties could not choose players from senior clubs, even if they were not on the senior county team. When a team won this championship, it had to pick a new team for the following year. Munster Junior Football Championship
The Munster Junior Football Championship is a gaelic football tournament between the six counties of Munster: Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Clare and Waterford. It is the third-tier county teams playing off in a single-elimination tournament with 2 quarter finals instead of 4 (as of 2014). The cup was first given to the winners in 1957. Kerry have won the most titles, 42 in all. The winner will play against the champions of the other provinces in the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship. Kerry Senior Football Championship
The Kerry Senior Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as Garvey’s SuperValu Senior Football Championship) is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Kerry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1889 for the top Gaelic football teams in the county of Kerry in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months, with the county final currently being played in either Austin Stack Park or FitzGerald Stadium in October. Initially played as a knock-out competition, the championship currently uses a double elimination format whereby each team is guaranteed at least two games. The Kerry County Championship is an integral part of the wider Munster Senior Club Football Championship. Munster Senior Football Championship
The Munster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship and shortened to Munster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county Gaelic football competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year, bar one, since the 1888 championship. The final, currently held on the fourth Saturday in June, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Munster Cup.
