Peter Wilson (diplomat)
Peter Michael Alexander Wilson (born 31 March 1968) is a civil servant whose most recent post was to serve as Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He has also served as British Ambassador to Brazil, British Ambassador to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Early life Wilson is a son of David Wilson, Baron Wilson of Tillyorn. He was educated at Eton and Merton College, Oxford. He also has a MPA degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Career Wilson joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1992 and was posted to Beijing where he studied Mandarin at the University of International Business and Economics. Santer Commission
The Santer Commission was the European Commission in office between 23 January 1995 and 15 March 1999. The administration was led by Jacques Santer (former Prime Minister of Luxembourg). The body had 20 members and oversaw the introduction of the euro. It was cut short when the Commission became the first to resign ''en masse'', owing to allegations of corruption. Leon Brittan, Baron Brittan of Spennithorne, (25 September 193921 January 2015) was a British Conservative politician and barrister who served as a European Commissioner from 1989 to 1999. As a member of Parliament from 1974 to 1988, he served several ministerial roles in Margaret Thatcher's government, including Home Secretary from 1983 to 1985.
