Peter Knowles (born 28 December 1969) is a former English badminton player. He competed for Great Britain at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics. He also represented England at the 1994 and 1998 Commonwealth Games, winning a mixed team gold in 1994, and a men's team bronze medal in 1998. Stockport
Stockport is a town and borough in Greater Manchester, England, south-east of Manchester, south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne and north of Macclesfield. The English National Badminton Championships is a tournament organised by the Badminton England to crown the best badminton players in England. The tournament started in 1964 and is held annually. Sun Jun (badminton)
Sun Jun (; born 16 June 1975) is a former world number 1 singles badminton player from China in the late 1990s whose resume includes the World Championship, World Cup, Asian Championship and All England men's singles titles. He was known for his all-round defensive ability as well as his never-say-die attitude on court as exemplified by his famous match with Peter Rasmussen whereby he suffered a severe leg cramp during mid-match but basically carried on to finish an entire set limping on one leg, at one point leading by 10-3 due to intelligent play before succumbing to his opponent. Pedro Vanneste
Pedro Vanneste (born 7 December 1969) is a Belgian badminton player. He competed in the men's singles tournament at the 1992 Summer Olympics. He later represented France in 2003. Career Vanneste competed in the men's singles tournament at the 1992 Summer Olympics. He was eliminated in the first round. In 1995, Vanneste entered the finals of the 1995 Wimbledon International but lost to Peter Knowles in two straight games. He won his first title in men's singles at the 1996 Slovenian International after winning the final against Denis Peshehonov of Ukraine. He retained his Slovenian International title in 1997 by defeating Boris Kessov in the final. In 1998, he lost the Slovenian International final to home favorite Andrej Pohar. Darren James Hall (born 25 October 1965) is an English retired badminton player who is generally rated as one of the best men's singles players that England has produced and holds the record of 10 National singles titles. Career Hall won a record ten English National Badminton Championships, English national singles titles from 1986 until 1999. During the 1993 championships he broke the existing record of five, set in 1981 by his cousin Ray Stevens (badminton), Ray Stevens. He is the only Englishman since the 1930s to win the prestigious Denmark Open, Danish Open (1992) in the men's singles. He won the singles gold medal at the 1988 European Badminton Championships, defeating Morten Frost in the final. Irish Open (badminton)
The Irish International or Irish Open in badminton is an international open held in Ireland since 1902 and is thereby one of the oldest badminton tournaments in the world. It was however interrupted by the two World Wars. This tournament is currently a part of the European Badminton Circuit and takes place at the end of November every year as part of the home nations loop of international tournaments that include the Scottish Open and the Welsh Open in consecutive weeks. The tournament for most part and in recent years has been an International Challenge rated event. The recent exception was in 2012, 2017 & 2018 when the tournament was downgraded to International Series due to funding. Fung Permadi (; born 30 December 1967 in Purwokerto, Indonesia) is a former male Chinese Indonesian badminton player. He was a singles specialist who played first for Indonesia and later for Chinese Taipei. Career Though Permadi had demonstrated impressive ability by 1990, he was often passed over in selection for international play at a time when Indonesia had elite world class singles players such as Ardy Wiranata, Alan Budikusuma, Joko Suprianto, Hariyanto Arbi, and Hermawan Susanto. Moving to Taiwan in the middle of the decade, Permadi played perhaps his best badminton in the late 1990s, after his thirtieth birthday.
