Peter Graves (born Peter Duesler Aurness; March 18, 1926 – March 14, 2010) was an American actor. He was best known for his role as Jim Phelps in the CBS television series '' Mission: Impossible'' from 1967 to 1973 (original) and from 1988 to 1990 (revival). His elder brother was actor James Arness. Graves was also known for his portrayal of airline pilot Captain Clarence Oveur in the 1980 comedy film ''Airplane!'' and its 1982 sequel '' Airplane II: The Sequel''. Peter George Wellesley Graves, 8th Baron Graves (21 October 1911 – 6 June 1994) was an English actor. Born in London, Graves was the son of Henry Algernon Claude Graves, 7th Baron Graves. Admiral Thomas Graves, 1st Baron Graves, was his great-great-great-grandfather. He was educated at Harrow School. Biography Known during his acting career as Peter Graves, he specialised in light comedies and musicals, often cast as dapper young men about town. His career peaked in the mid-to-late 1940s, beginning with the films of director/writer Val Guest, including ''Miss London Ltd.'' (1943) and '' Bees in Paradise'' (1944), opposite Arthur Askey; and ''Give Us the Moon'' (1944) and ''I'll Be Your Sweetheart'' (1945), opposite Margaret Lockwood. Peter Graves (born May 16, 1952 in Bennington, Vermont) is an American television sportscaster and public address announcer specializing in Olympic, lifestyle, and action sports. He is also a former cross-country skiing coach for Harvard University. Early career Graves was a collegiate skier at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, graduating in 1975 with a degree in physical education. He began his broadcast career as news director of KIUP Radio in Durango and a Colorado reporter for KOAT-TV in Albuquerque. He worked from 1976 to 1981 as marketing director for a Norwegian cross-country ski importer, NorTur, Inc. in Minneapolis. His career as a stadium sports announcer began at international cross-country ski races at Telemark Resort in northern Wisconsin in 1977. Peter Allan Graves (born 6 June 1966), is a British former professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. Early life Graves was born in Hampstead, London, UK. He attended Hampton School before starting a racing career which spanned the years from 1984 to 1999. Career Racing series including the Grand Prix world championship in 1992 riding a Harris-Yamaha. He competed in the 1994 Endurance World Championship for team Phase One Endurance at Spa-Francorchamps, and for several years the British Superbike Championship. He was winner of a number of British Championship events. Pete Graves has been a British television presenter working for British Sky Broadcasting. He anchored live association football and rugby union matches on Sky Sports. He also co-presented on Sky Sports News and Sky News. Radio Graves eventually took over the position of head commentator on all Newcastle United matches working alongside Mick Martin. His first Premier League match was Newcastle's 0–0 draw away at Portsmouth F.C. in October 2005 - He was just 23 years old. Graves moved to Real Radio (formerly Century Radio) in 2007. He worked as a sports reporter and continued to present live coverage of Newcastle United matches. His new co-commentator was Bobby Moncur.
