Peter Fong
Peter Fong (born 1941) is a former Fijian international lawn bowler. Bowls career Fong has represented Fiji at four Commonwealth Games. He competed in the fours event at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games, the fours event at the 1978 Commonwealth Games, the pairs event at the 1982 Commonwealth Games and the singles event at the 1986 Commonwealth Games. He won the singles gold medal and the pairs bronze medal at the inaugural 1985 Asia Pacific Bowls Championships, in Tweed Heads, Australia and the 1991 triples in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Personal life he was a marketing manager by trade and now bowls in Australia for the Merrylands Bowling Club and is the husband of female bowls international Willow Fong Willow Fong is a Tongan born, former international lawn bowls competitor for Fiji and Australia. Asia Pacific Bowls Championships
The Asia Pacific Bowls Championships formerly the Pacific Rim Championships was a bowls, lawn bowling competition held between national bowls organisations in the Asia Pacific region. The event was inaugurated in 1985, and it was initially held every two years but then took place every four years and was a qualifying event for the World Bowls Championship, World Outdoor Bowls Championships. In 2021, the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was officially cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. World Bowls then decided that the World Championships would take place every two years starting in 2023. Willow Fong is a Tongan born, former international lawn bowls competitor for Fiji and Australia. Biography Fong is originally from Tonga and started bowling in 1974. Tweed Heads is a town in New South Wales. 1986 Commonwealth Games
The 1986 Commonwealth Games ( gd, Geamannan a 'Cho-fhlaitheis 1986) were held in Edinburgh, Scotland, between 24 July and 2 August 1986. They were the second Games to be held in Edinburgh. Thirty two of the eligible fifty nine countries (largely African, Asian and Caribbean states) boycotted the event because of the Thatcher government's policy of keeping Britain's sporting links with apartheid South Africa.
