Perth Roller Derby
Perth Roller Derby (PRD) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Perth, Western Australia. Founded in 2008, the league is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). History The league was formed in June 2008, and began bouting in mid-2009. By the end of 2010, it was selling out its 700-seat venue. Perth Roller Derby competed in the 2010 Great Southern Slam, where they reached the quarter-final before losing 207–51 to the Pirate City Rollers from Auckland. The league again entered the 2012 tournament, but narrowly lost both opening round bouts, to Gold Coast and the Canberra Roller Derby League. In September 2013, Perth Roller Derby's representative teams both competed in the first statewide roller derby tournament, the Boom State Clash. The West Coast Evils played through the tournament undefeated, making it through to the grand final where they played fellow Perth league, WA Roller Derby. Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. WFTDA Championships
The International Women's Flat Track Derby Association Championships ("WFTDA Championships" or "Champs" for short) are the leading competition for roller derby leagues. The Championships are organised by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). They originated in 2006 as the National WFTDA Championship. The "Dust Devil" tournament was contested in front of several thousand fans in Tucson, Arizona. Women's Flat Track Derby Association Rankings
Rankings for the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) are used to determine placement in overall standings (rather than win–loss record) and also to determine seedings at WFTDA Playoffs. Achieving high rankings is also a goal for teams aiming to increase their stature in the organization. Each year at the end of June, teams are seeded into Division 1 and Division 2 playoff tournaments. Historically, the top 40 teams in the WFTDA as of June 30 were eligible for Division 1 tournaments that season, and the teams ranked 41–60 were eligible for Division 2 tournaments. For 2017, the Division 1 cutoff was reduced to the top 36 teams, with the next 16 teams qualifying for Division 2 Playoffs. Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice
The Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice is the program affiliate of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). In operation from 2009 until early 2019, the Apprentice Program served to onboard new member leagues into the WFTDA. In February 2019, the WFTDA announced it was retiring the program, to be replaced with a new "New Member Program" in the near future. WA Roller Derby (WARD) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Perth, Western Australia. Founded in 2009, the league is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). The Canberra Roller Derby League (CRDL) is a Canberra-based roller derby league. It was created in 2008, with the first bouts occurring in 2009. Canberra currently holds the Division 1 trophy for The Great Southern Slam. Canberra is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). The league features a four-team home league, plus the all-star Vice City Rollers, which represents the league in interleague play.
