Bob Rae
Robert Keith Rae (born August 2, 1948) is a Canadian diplomat and former politician who is the current Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations since 2020. He previously served as the 21st premier of Ontario from 1990 to 1995, leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party from 1982 to 1996, and interim leader of the Liberal Party of Canada from 2011 to 2013. Between 1978 and 2013, he was elected 11 times to federal (Broadview, Broadview-Greenwood, Toronto Centre) and provincial (York South) parliaments. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO; french: link=no, Organisation mondiale de la propriété intellectuelle (OMPI)) is one of the list of specialized agencies of the United Nations, 15 specialized agencies of the United Nations (UN). Gérard Pelletier, (June 21, 1919 – June 22, 1997) was a Canadian journalist and politician. Career Pelletier initially worked as a journalist for ''Le Devoir'', a French-language newspaper in Montreal, Quebec. In 1961 he became editor-in-chief of the Montreal daily and North America's largest French circulating newspaper, ''La Presse''. Pelletier, with other French-Canadian intellectuals, Pierre Elliott Trudeau included, founded the journal '' Cité Libre''. First elected to Parliament in 1965, he served as a member of the cabinet of Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Pelletier met Trudeau while studying in France and worked with him and Jean Marchand during the Asbestos Strike of 1949 in Quebec. Michel Dupuy
Michel Dupuy, (born January 11, 1930) is a Canadian diplomat, journalist, academic and politician. Born in Paris, France, his father was Pierre Dupuy who was also a Canadian diplomat. Dupuy was a long time diplomat in the Department of External Affairs. He served as Ambassador to the United Nations from 1980 to 1981, and Ambassador to France from 1981 to 1985. He subsequently entered politics and was defeated in his attempt to win a seat in the House of Commons of Canada in the 1988 election. He was elected on his second attempt in the 1993 election as the Liberal Member of Parliament for Laval West. He immediately joined the Cabinet, serving concurrently as Minister of Communications and Minister of Multiculturalism and Citizenship from 1993 until January 1996. Saul (; he, , ; , ; ) was, according to the Hebrew Bible, the first monarch of the United Kingdom of Israel. His reign, traditionally placed in the late 11th century BCE, supposedly marked the transition of Israel and Judah from a scattered tribal society to organized statehood. Count George Pavlovich Ignatieff, (russian: Георгий Па́влович Игнатьев; December 16, 1913 – August 10, 1989) was a Canadian diplomat. His career spanned nearly five decades in World War II and the postwar period. Early life and education Count Ignatieff was born in Saint Petersburg, Russian Empire, the youngest of five sons, to a distinguished Russian noble family. His mother was Princess Natalia Nikolayevna Meshcherskaya and his father was Count Pavel Ignatiev, a close advisor to Tsar Nicholas II serving as his last Minister of Education. David Johnson (Canadian Runner)
David Moffat Johnson (April 30, 1902 – January 3, 1973) was a Canadian athlete and diplomat. Early life David Johnson was born in 1902 in Lachine, Quebec. He studied at McGill and after graduating with an arts degree in 1923, he became the first McGill athlete to earn a Rhodes scholarship to the University of Oxford in England. Sportsman Johnson was a star athlete at McGill University in Montreal, where he led the varsity track and field team to four consecutive championships in the 1920s. He was also an Olympian, as Canada's top track runner at the Olympic Games of 1924 in Paris. He finished fourth in two events, including the 400-metre race that was won by Scotland's Eric Liddell. The race was immortalised in the film ''Chariots of Fire'' and was recorded in contemporary newsreel: Johnson's maple-leaf emblem standing out clearly on the inside lane. John Wendell Holmes (18 June 1910 – 13 August 1988) was a Canadian diplomat and academic. Born in London, Ontario, Holmes attended the University of Western Ontario and received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Toronto. From 1933 to 1938, he was a master of English at Pickering College. From 1938 to 1940, he attended the University of London. He joined the Department of External Affairs in 1943 as a temporary wartime assistant. From 1947 to 1948, he was the Canadian Chargé d'Affaires ad interim to the Soviet Union.
