Ring Road
A ring road (also known as circular road, beltline, beltway, circumferential (high)way, loop, bypass or orbital) is a road or a series of connected roads encircling a town, city, or country. The most common purpose of a ring road is to assist in reducing traffic volumes in the urban centre, such as by offering an alternate route around the city for drivers who do not need to stop in the city core. Ring roads can also serve to connect suburbs to each other, allowing efficient travel between them. Nomenclature The name "ring road" is used for the majority of metropolitan circumferential routes in Europe, such as the Bundesautobahn 10, Berliner Ring, the Brussels Ring, the A10 motorway (Netherlands), Amsterdam Ring, the Boulevard Périphérique around Paris and the Leeds Leeds Inner Ring Road, Inner and Leeds Outer Ring Road, Outer ring roads. Australia, Pakistan and India also use the term ring road, as in Melbourne's M80 Ring Road, Melbourne, Western Ring Road, Lahore's Lahore ...

The ''Periferico'' was originally planned by architect Carlos Contreras as early as 1925, together with other major roads such as the Viaducto Miguel Alemán. Some parts of the beltway were built to follow the bed of a river; the flow of the river was modified to flow through a pipe. The beltway gained major media attention when the then Mexico City mayor, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, started a project to turn a southern section of the ring into a two-story highway. The second level was finished in 2006 in the Federal District and in the State of Mexico in 2009. From Cuautitlán in the north (State of Mexico) to Naucalpan at the Fe ...

Anillo Periférico Ecológico
The Anillo Periférico Ecológico is a ring road of the city of Puebla, in Mexico. It is an arm from Mexican Federal Highway 190 (Mexico-Amozoc) that allows to surround a large part of the metropolitan area of Puebla. With an approximate length of 40 km, it forms an arc that is linked to highway 150D (Mexico-Veracruz) by two junctions, respectively at the extreme northwest and east of the urban area, surrounding it to the south. History Anillo Periférico Ecológico was conceived in 1993 as part of the Angelopolis Regional Development Plan. This planned to grow and modernize the city, as well as speed up vehicular flow through a fast track that would connect the Mexico-Veracruz highway with the south from the city, freeing it from passing traffic. In a first phase, the Periférico Ecológico was inaugurated in 1997, during the government of Manuel Bartlett. It initially included the western and southern section, from Highway 150D at the height of San Francisco Ocotlán to José ...

Periférico/Participación Ciudadana Railway Station
The Xochimilco Light Rail (locally known as el Tren Ligero and known by the government as Tren ligero de la Ciudad de México) is a light rail line that serves the southern part of Mexico City. It connects to, but is not considered a part of, the Mexico City Metro. Rather, it is operated by the '' Servicio de Transportes Eléctricos'' (STE), the authority that operates Mexico City's electric trolleybus system and formerly operated the municipal electric tram system. History Many of Mexico City's original tram lines were abandoned in the 1960s and 1970s. The original Xochimilco tramline had been in operation since 1910, but the Xochimilco tramway's section between Avenida Tasqueña and the city centre was replaced by a new metro line in 1970.Morrison, Allen (2003)The Tramways of Mexico City, Part 4.Retrieved 2010-05-05.May, Jack (1994).
