''People, Places and Things'' is a play by the United Kingdom, British playwright Duncan Macmillan (playwright), Duncan Macmillan. The inaugural production was directed by Jeremy Herrin and staged at the Royal National Theatre, National Theatre in London in 2015. The play was widely praised by critics for its depiction of addiction, and Denise Gough, in the central role, won the Critics Circle Theatre Award for Best Actress. Duncan Macmillan (born 1980) is an English playwright and director. He is most noted for his plays ''Lungs'', ''People, Places and Things'', ''Every Brilliant Thing,'' and the stage adaptation of the George Orwell novel ''Nineteen Eighty-Four,'' which he co-adapted and co-directed with Robert Icke. Macmillan's play ''Lungs'' had a major revival at the Old Vic Theatre in 2019, starring Matt Smith and Claire Foy. Bunny Christie (born 1962) is a Scottish theatre set designer. Career She was born in St Andrews, educated at Madras College and at the Central School of Art in London. She has won four Olivier Awards and also worked on Kenneth Branagh's Oscar-nominated short film '' Swan Song''.
